Team has been disastrous since he took over, but I'm willing to set aside my frustration to see what he does in year 3. He does have a huge learning curve coming from college to the NFL, so hopefully behind the scenes he has taken lessons from his first 2 years in the NFL and will apply it this coming season.

I voted yes..

But it's more complicated than a simple yes or no. I think Rhule took a bad team that needed to be blown up and had to try to create culture during 2 years of covid all the while not having a QB that could compete.

I can also appreciate Rhule's coaching style, where he allows his coaches to coach - but that means he needs to hire GOOD coaches. I really like this years coaching staff.

I also think that Tepper needs to establish himself as an NFL owner and 'wants' to do things the Pittsburg way - which is not cycling through coaches.

That being said this is the year. Rhule needs to make this team competitive every week and during the ENTIRE game.

Record aside, if the team is not fighting every single sunday and keeping it close, Rhule is gone. New coach gets to draft a new QB.

He obviously loves golf and dinner more. That's what he thinks will improve the win column. The reporter asked a very valid question and got the most tone deaf narcissistic answer imaginable.

Lucky to have a friggin' job. Ron Rivera is a man of great discipline, look at how he is still looking like he could get in an play some LB. The man is in great shape, similar to his Bear teammates Jim Harbaugh and Mike Singletary(when he was coaching).

Great men lead by example. Cam Newton may be more cut up now than when he was drafted. Discipline shows. Jim Harbaugh, Bill Belichick are well known grinders.

You think when a reporter asks Bill Belichick "what he's going to do personally to change the win column?" His answer will be WORK, day and night if he or they have to.

Take the damn job more seriously and the multi million dollar fitness facility at your disposal.

Rhule looked good at the beginning of the year, but we were looking through an undeveloped lens. At the time, we had no idea how bad those teams were. In hindsight they were terrible (and New Orleans was decimated). Once Dallas was on the field against us, we got to see just how ill-prepared we were.

And the prior year was just as bad, with even less talent on the field.

It doesn't inspire hope.

He looked good year 1 too. Remember the dline man substitution slow walk? That was one bad ass, dare I say Belichickian, move.

Andy Reid might be the most out-of-shape coach in the league but he's one of the best.  Not sure what parallel you're trying to draw between Ron's ample chest and his coaching ability.  I think it's clear Rhule was just emphasizing the importance of building relationships with his players.  Personally I think he's got a million other more pressing issues with his coaching that he should emphasize, but I don't think his answer was very offensive.

that's not how the beat writers that have covered Rhule have explained it though.

the reporting has described Rhule as having a micromanging approach to coaching.

I thought about Andy Reid but I'm sure people are hoping him the best in reaching balance. The same can be said.

My point is that a "players coach" has usually been a player and what usually comes from being a professional athlete for many years is self discipline. They can see it and smell it.

They may not have liked Jim Harbaugh as players but being an NFL QB himself he understands the margin for error is razor slim in the pros. He rode those ungrateful whiners(not all of them), to a Superbowl with a below average QB.

    • I don't think so. I think once you're measuring electronically, the spot is where the sensor says it is. So if it says half yard short of the line to gain, that's the spot. Now how that works with scrums and the ball moving on two minute drills and poo is anybody's guess.
