Baker may be happening today.

We are really going to let Rhule (who has begged) to trade for Mayfield so we can get 7 wins instead of 6, still not make the playoffs, not be able to have a top 10 pick to take a QB and have Rhule stick around? And some people on here are hype. If this trade is anything except a straight up Darnold for Mayfield trade we are idiots. Cleveland has no leverage and we will probably still get out-negotiated. If I was that bad at negotiating at my job Id be fired.

Well yeah. Who would swap anything for the worst starting QB in years. I don't understand why anyone entertains the notion anymore.

Looking like back to back years of bidding against ourselves for a QB no one else wants. If we double up on them and have Corral inactive the whole season...

I went to look something up for him, and the box on the right that usually links to Wikipedia says:

Baker Reagan Mayfield is an American football quarterback for the Shanghai Sharks of the National Football League.

Looks like we lost out to Shanghai.

The Wikipedia article does not say that (unfortunately) nor does it look like it ever did.  They missed out on a scoop.

So per both Kunkel and Cabot, still not close...

The Browns hold the upper hand here. Darnold is 100% a liability. A negative asset. There's zero doubt about that. The Browns can always sit tight and wait for a potential QB injury that could change the market. We're still gonna have trash Darnold and a 3rd round rookie that we're obviously not planning to play early.

If the Panthers want to make this happen, they're just going to have to swallow the bitter pill that they're going to have to eat that Darnold cap hit. Which is exactly what I said would happen when we idiotically picked up that option to double down on the idiocy of trading for him.

I don't think we have to worry about that. Based on how Scott Fitterer has talked about Corral I have no doubt he will play at some point this season. He still hasn't even signed has he? Matt Corral and his agent know what's on the horizon.

    • He does have speed. 21+ top end speed is very fast for a linebacker and his 3 cone drill time is considered excellent, close to elite.
    • This is awesome because you get to see the perspectives of the scouts--get a glimpse behind the curtain. I wonder whose doing this was; I am curious as to why David Tepper allowed it. Maybe it was his wife. Maybe Dan.  At least from my perspective--and probably one shared by other fans--when David Tepper bought the team, he closed everything off too much to the fans, and really didn't give an explanation. Things were obviously done because he (and/or some others wanted to do it). Remember when they used the guise of construction and all that to keep fans from seeing the team during practice? I know there are laws and safety and all that, but Tepper could've made it happen. And, of course, we all know that they essentially fired Jeremy from his independent contractor gig as a photojournalist. I never understood why they'd do that (and the negative reverberations obviously affected Jeremy and ultimately this place--i.e, us fans). The pie was (and is) certainly big enough to throw some scraps to the independents. I realize that you can't necessarily open the floodgates, but a few different perspectives from indy journalists whether in word or photos is a good thing in my mind.  So, it's great to see different perspectives. I will say this however: it is not without risk, as you know there will be some buster who will be calling the scouts out if the players flop. I think we should all keep in mind that the buck stops with the GM. It's nice to have one, however, that is so convicted in his people and process--and ultimately success, that he's willing to give fans access to this type of information. Pass this on to Tepper.
    • I hope he ends up being our best ever at the position. Ryan Kalil left big shoes behind that we haven't quite been able to fill since.
