Players who stood out today.

Offense

Really like Higgins, Smith, Zylstra, and Ricci from the one’s. Thought Brown, Kirkwood, and Wright did some nice things with the two’s and three’s. Mays also had a nice outing besides his false start.

Defense

Thought Xavier Woods played well in his brief action. Had a nice pass break up and couple of open field tackles. Barno and Brandon Smith looked really good with the two’s, Barno factored in on both turnovers. Myles Hartsfield had a real nice game and he just keeps getting better. Marquan McCall did some good things from the DT spot and he might just earn himself a practice squad position.

ST’s

Shi Smith will make Roberts expendable, it’s nice to not have to worry about kicker anymore (thanks Zane), Hekker is still one of the best in the business, and J.J. can still do it all, had a nice tackle today. Brandon Smith also made a couple nice plays on special teams.

I honestly thought the ball placement there wasn't bad at all.

Robby had it in his hands

Would have been a hell of a catch to come down with as both Robby and Mayfield got hit

Mayfield hung in there and completed a great ball to Shi on that second 3rd down play.

Shi needs to be on this team. If it means saying goodbye to Roberts already then so be it.

I just didn't like the decision. The play was designed to take a shot but the shot wasn't there with the safety lurking over the top.

Yeah thats what historically has gotten him in trouble, sure he is great with the deep ball but this is the nfl if you throw into double coverage more times then not you are going to regret it

Baker missed that throw to Robbie but I see that play producing a lot of big plays this coming season.

Barro, B. Smith and Barnes defensively

S. Smith has such great speed that he needs to be on the field more.  He basically won the game for us with that nice return on our winning drive.

He didn't miss Robbie didn't hang on that ball was perfectly timed and placed... If you throw into double coverage that's how you do it with laser accuracy.

He hit him in his hands. Robbie will get more opportunities but the fact is the best receivers in the league more often than not come down with those passes if they plan on competing for anything meaningful in the NFL.

    • Ehhhh except a lot of it was his refusal in college not to play hero ball.....  The two things he greatly improved at the NFL level were his accuracy on the run and learning he didn't have to take the deep shot every play.   That said when taking a massive boom or bust athlete at QB the most important thing is their work ethic/coachability/desire to improve

    • The new (released today) FOX ONE app will allow you access to watch your Local FOX Station - similar to how the Paramount Plus app allows you access to watch your local CBS station It'll cost you $20/month for the privilege, but if you're having trouble accessing the over-the-air antenna for FOX, this could be an option to consider the new ESPN app will give you access to ESPN content, but not to the local ABC affiliate. A reminder: if you currently get ESPN via some TV provider (cable, satellite, youtube, etc) then you should be able to use the new ESPN app via your provider login, no additional payment required
