Love how it’s 3 weeks from game 1 of the regular season and we are talking about naming our starting QB and OL and letting them gel. Really setting these guys up for success.

Unfortunately rhule thinks he’s still in the big 12 circa 2016 🤷‍♂️

Lol, you guys just don't get it.

This decision was already made long before now and the team already knew it. All the signs were there if you read body language and other signs like RA asking Baker for extra reps. He already knew.

The reason for this fake QB competition is simple.

FREE PUBLICITY!!!

It's called marketing. It is a business and like all businesses advertising is important. Free advertising is priceless.

Can you not see how many shows and articles were about the Panthers specifically BECAUSE of this so-called competition? We were talked about by everyone for weeks on all the major and minor shows. That's free advertising.

It's genius if you are smart enough to see it. If not I can't help you. I can only lead you to water. I can't make you drink it.

There's good marketing and bad marketing. Making yourself look like a clown show is bad marketing.

Outside of Bozeman's injury and potentially LG, the starting OL is actually set.  Ickey, BC/Jordan, Bozeman, Corbett and Moton.  I don't think Brown, Tecklenburg, Horton or Erving is pushing for a starting spot.  Elflein may get the nod at center until Bozeman is healthy again.  Mays is good depth but isn't taking Corbett of Moton's job on the right side.  Camp competition is over, let the 1's all run together and get some continuity.

So, if I understand your theory correctly, we took away valuable training camp reps from our starter in order to get talked about on stuff like GMFB?

That doesn't seem like a real smart idea.

You know a great way to get all those shows to talk about you long after the doldrums of the offseason? Winning.

Hey it worked for the My Pillow guy really well didn't it. Any publicity is good for business.

Except you're wrong. The only ones calling us a clown show are around here. Many of those shows were talking about our improved roster and how Baker could take this teams to the playoffs. That's good marketing. It's genius.

Dabo just sits around and comes up w/ corny nonense and sells the hell out of it.  Somehow it works.  I no longer question how it does.    It's a mystery I quit debating long ago.

and Dabo would be an utter failure as a NFL coach.  Yet is a modern day college GOAT.   His strengths don't translate.  And that's okay.  I still say Rhule is a knock off Dabo.

I'm curious to see how things go with Venables leaving. IMO, he was the best football mind on that staff. Dabo can flat out recruit his ass off so I don't think Clemson is going to the dregs anytime soon but I wonder if they're still going to be perennial national title contenders minus Venables.

I'm curious in the bigger picture.  Clemson does a good job of having guys learn underneath to take over.

Clemson's DL talent this year is great.  Pending they stay healthy, anyone should look good with that talent.  It will be interesting if they can get guys in without Venables and what the new guy does with his own recruits.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
