At 6'1" 227# he's honestly built a lot more like a RB than a typical WR. He ran a 4.58 40 at the Combine which is pretty decent for his size but what was a bit eye opening is that he didn't do any other drills (other than the bench - 17 reps). You would've liked to have seen that 40 time paired with some decent agility numbers and leaps showing explosion. For him to show up and run a 4.58 and not do anything else kinda tells you that his straight line speed was his best measurable trait and it turned out to only be marginal.

Idk, I'm not gonna read too much into it, although I would tend to agree with you, but there are some guys that just know how to move when they step on the field, regardless of their measurables.  And again, judging from his production so far in the pros and looking at the tape, he shows plenty short-area explosiveness to make plays.

Honestly, I have no idea what kind of football team they are trying to build here.

Sure would feel better if I thought THEY knew what kind of football team they are trying to build here.

Sometimes I still get the feeling that Fit is the "in on every deal" kind of guy that other GMs abuse.

Getting picks in return for guys like Dennis Daley and Greg Little doesn't feel like "abuse" to me.

As far as what we're building, this particular deal probably started with Ben McAdoo. He was with the Jaguars for Shenault's rookie season.

Most likely, McAdoo believes they can use him in some fashion.

I have to disagree.  We damn sure didn't get abused on the Baker or Gilmore trades.  Depending on how he plays this year, we probably won the Henderson trade as well.  I don't count Darnold on Fitt because it apparently was pushed for mostly by Rhule and has been very different from the other trades we know were sought out and initiated by Fitt and the FO, in terms of compensation contrasted with the actual player's value.  And finally, I think if you look at the roster Fitt has built, it is quite possi ly the deepest/most talented roster from top to bottom we have ever fielded...  so he is killing it, imo.  The issue is Rhule.  Imagine what a Belichick, Andy Reid, Tomlin, Bruce Arians, Harbaugh, or Vrabel could do with this roster...  which is why if Rhule finds a way to lose with it, he needs to go and go early and give McAdoo or Wilks a shot at becoming the guy.

Has anyone mentioned he might be "our" Deebo yet? Who is "our" Kyle Shanahan to coach him up then? 🤔

Hey you're right.  I never really noticed.  Kyle Shanahan was 10-22 his first two seasons, before he found his QB.  I'll bet 9ers fans were calling for his head.   Thanks for pointing out the parallel frankie.🤔

You can't be serious with a Rhule/Shanahan comparison based solely on record.

Of course not, but I didn't make the comparison. Frankie did.

In the end, if Shananhan only had losing seasons, he wouldn't be so revered.

The only thing to change the narrative on Rhule is wins.

Lets hope we  get a lot more this year.

NFL. com confirms

The Jaguars traded Shenault to the Carolina Panthers on Monday in exchange for a 2023 seventh-round draft pick and a 2024 sixth-round selection, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported.

Panthers acquire WR Laviska Shenault from Jaguars in trade (nfl.com)

I think that's a nice trade. I'm starting to like Jax. They can keep trading us their top picks for late rounders all day.

    • I mean, CMC had almost 1100 total yards and 7 TDs his rookie season.  I don't recall people calling him a bust but there was criticism he needed to bulk up and change for the NFL and of course the should you really draft a RB that high talk given what you can get elsewhere.   and he spent the offseason putting on tons of muscle and getting jacked.   Which was basically the talk of the board as camp approached.  And that 1100 season was then followed by an almost 2k season.  what did Bryce do? Watched Netflix and you tube....per Bryce.  So it's hard to really think we will see a CMC uptick in year 2 when our QB took the offseason off of football.

    • I'm old enough to remember the people who wrote CMC off after his rookie season.  Was too small, couldn't break tackles.  Was a completely wasted pick.  Complete bust to take him top-10 when the Saints drafted the OROY (Kamara) in the 3rd Round. We live in a hot-take society.  I hope Bryce does better and 100% think he can, but none of us have a crystal ball. Just interesting how things have changed (i.e. CMC vs. Kamara).  And it's like that with multiple players. Cam was never seen in the same vein as Andrew Luck of RG3 early on... the NFL creates their own narratives, and many of them outlive their actual truthfulness. It is still wild to me the amount of hate Bryce has received. Let's see what this season brings...
