There are plenty of mid range guys that are still in there:

Tune

Haener

Hooker

Rattler

Rising

Duggan

Not really all in on these 6, but with san frans 3rd or later there should be a guy or 2 left when we get to that pick or in round 4. Unless you have what 10 going before the SF pick in the 3rd or our 4th.

Not saying we should wait till after the top 4, but I'm on board with swinging on a mid rounder and a 1st at this point. QB is by far one you can swing till you find the guy and their impact if you find a top 8 guy it's  massive. With all the picks from San Fran we can swing extra at a spot or 2.

Figure out from new rookies and MC who gets floated to PS/IR or moved.

Hooker will be shelved most of the year (late season ACL tear).  Rattler probably won't declare.  Duggan, Heaner and Rising are all Day 3 guys.  Duggan may go as high as the 4th the rest are 6th and 7th rounders.  Tune may be an early day 3 guy with an impressive offseason, but as for now, he's lumped into the end of the draft crowd.  Much more accomplished QBs went back to school because they were getting a day 3 grade.  Now, as the class has drastically thinned out, some of these guys may get overvalued.  I hope teams *ahem* the Panthers *ahem* can tell the difference between a weak spot and true value.

I think you're right with Tune being the one guy who could move up in tiers this offseason.  I can also see Jaren Hall maybe rise a bit in the offseason, although he's a shorty.  But it's so true, this class really did thin out.  Even with some of the fringe Day 1-2 guys like Daniels, Penix, Ward going back.  I'm seeing 4 1st rounders if we're lucky, McKee & Tune somewhere between Late 2nd-3rd at best, and then the rest.

Tier 1A: Young

Tier 1B: Stroud, Levis, Richardson

Tier 2: McKee

Tier 3: Tune, Haener, Jaren Hall, O'Connell, Duggan, Hooker

Tier 4: R7/UDFA

Turned out to be slim pickings.

CJ Stroud is 15/19 for 238 yards and 3 TDS against the Georgia Bulldogs in the first half of the college football playoffs.

That was super impressive. He showcased an ability to improvise, and being able to run when needed. Super interesting to see where he stands with scouts after that performance.

The VERY reason you DON'T draft the QB until you have some pieces around him...and that a competent HC with a retread QB can work.  One game, two points proven.

*FYI, I'm not against a rookie QB, but it ain't the time.*

We are waaaay better off than the Bears offensively. We were putting up points with PJ Walker. Our OL is decent and young, Moore just needs a QB, TMJ is finally getting playing time and healthy. We are built to be a power running teams and a decent amount of teams couldn’t stop it. That’s perfect to slide a rookie QB in IMO. It’s hard to have a perfect roster and the ability to draft a top tier QB.

I know you guys are tired of the "wait one more year", but I really mean it.  Get our TE1, WR1/2, MLB, DE (Burns bookend) and hopefully couple other complimentary parts...we are there.  Then if you want to sell the farm for a rookie QB in the 2024 draft, then so be it. Plus, we are not moving all the way up for Stroud.  It's Levis or Richardson and I'm not thrilled with either of those options.

If you aren’t crazy about the QBs in this draft then yeah that makes sense. If you are waiting on a perfect roster to draft one you might be waiting a while.

There's no such thing as a perfect roster, but there is such thing as perfect timing though.  There's too much turmoil, change and upheaval for a rookie QB to function correctly here next year.  Let the 2023 staff go through their growing pains, lessons learned and understanding of *THEIR roster before trying to bring in the franchise QB.  Again this isn't 2011 where we had the #1 overall and we got to get the pick of the litter.  We are talking about QB3/4 here in what turned out to be a dud of a draft for QBs due to NIL and the transfer portal.

fully in to the camp of we need to trade up with the Bears at number two to get either Young or Stroud. fug it go get your QB.

Bears will def be ok with a trade down as they have a lot of holes and 8-9 is a good range to get talent

    • Cooter, Kurb, others have passed on to glory….  Praise be.
    • Oh good for them! Hope this is the start of a long happy time in their lives here.
    • There was no reason to believe in either Cam or Jake as a top tier elite QB before those seasons either. Cam was an "athletic" QB in most people's minds and his passing skills were open for debate. And there was a bit to that as he was still trying to get that massive power in his arm tamed to be able to put some touch on his passes. And then, he did it. Missiles became bombs, the firing lanes became points of finesse. Cam grew up and leveled up, while still retaining the ability and drive to truck people whenever he wanted. And Jake... no one freaking believed in Jake except Jake himself. He got, and let's be honest with this, one chance in a losing game to make something out of his career. And he rose to the occasion like some kind of mythical hero and continued to do so for the season. He became a true leader for the team, and his gunslinger capabilities rehabbed Moose's career and created Smitty as a force in the league. Smitty went from a barker to a biter. But no one believed in Jake going in. And they trashed him on his way out. Now Bryce... who knows? I've seen some improvement. Maybe he finds his footing. His teammates seem to love and respect him and that means a lot. The game should be moving at his speed now. He has weapons available to him and maybe a defense that doesn't just roll over by the third quarter. And his coach seems to be moving this team in the right direction. Could he do it? It's up to him, if he can find the magic like Jake and Cam did. But don't doubt this, magic is really, really hard to find.
