Refs screwed us

The refs screwed us, but in the end, we didn't play well enough to keep that from being a factor.

I agree we didn’t play well enough to keep it from being a factor. However there were 6 games yesterday decided by 3 points or less. There are so many close games every week so too often calls like these become a factor.

The team shouldn't have allowed themselves to get in a situation where the officials could dictate the finish of the game.

That said, I can't stand NFL officiating. A crew with minimal to no oversight is never going to be competent.

The call that got me was the low block call...  Dude had a hippo running at him full steam ahead...  WTF is he supposed to do....

By the letter of the law it’s the correct call but it’s a bad rule. That rule feels like it reads that OL are more important than smaller defensive backs. DB’s are going to get hurt because of that rule.

Say all you want but refs fuged us today not only with the roughing the passer call but also not calling grounding on Jacoby's spike. The ref even called it a fake spike.. We should've won this game and that hurts.

Because…that caused the defense to allow 217 yards rushing

no pressure on the QB

not being able to wrap on tackle

an ol that was horrible

a qb who couldn’t take a snap

not using the star player…their only star more than 14 times

a coach who didn’t declare his starter qb and his starting line until the last preseason game (for one qtr)

the list goes on and one but yeah, the refs ‘screwed them’.  The organization screwed themselves hiring Rhule

Stop with that nonsense, the refs are the reason the Panthers put the ball on the ground more times than they put it in the end zone.

For real though, I think we all agree that the two missed calls were poo. Did it affect the outcome of the game, who knows… York is one of the best long ball kickers in college football history and his kick looked to be good from 70. With that said, there’s a lot more than just the refs to complain about. For starters, our coaching staff is still incompetent and we only played one good quarter of football.

Hell I can't stand the refs either we got robbed in SB50 that's for another convo though. But when our staff actually outcoaches someone else I'll put some weight behind complaints about bad calls. For now our staff can't coach their way out of a paper bag and the refs are only a cherry on top.

Of course, they coached the team back from 14-0 and 20-7 deficits today to a place at which they had the lead with a minute to go.

We had less than 50 yards of offense for an entire half and let Brissett and the Browns backs make our defense look like scrubs. That's not on the coaching? Come out swinging in OUR house and it's a different tone and a different game. But instead we folded and had to dig our way back. No one should be surprised we failed given the mistakes that cornered us into that outcome.

That is on the coaching, but it is also on the coaching that the team came back from that to take the lead.

Your obsession with defending the referees is psyhotic.  There are professional people who can help you.  All the shlt you keep spewing about the first half or mistakes don't matter becase WE HAD THE LEAD moron.  The refs saw to it that changed.  Go on kiss the refs ass against the Panthers.  I expected no less.

Once again back to namecalling. You've spent all this time carrying water for Rhule and screaming at CRA in thread after thread after thread after thread about Joe Brady but now it's all the refs. You are delusional beyond words.

    • I get it's subjective and I said "PFF rated him as" one of the top deep ball passers during that time, which is an accurate statement.  They are still a group of professionals that look at film and data in order to make their judgements/ratings.  These people whose data has been incorporated into a lot of teams' staffs view Bryce's deep throws as some of the best in the league during that stretch.  That tells me that he can probably throw a deep pass vs the Huddle's version of he is small and didn't do it his rookie year so he must not be able to.  That and literally seeing him do it just makes me feel he is more than capable of doing so.   Do you think PFF is skewing their opinion to prop up a QB in a bottom tier franchise?  It's just another group's opinion and I feel is pretty respected around the league currently.  It's not the gospel truth or anything.
    • I still remember how happy I was that gettlegut was not the GM once he picked Jones, that was a firing pick and well..... If not for the raiders drafting Clelin Ferrell, it was the biggest draft day mistake in the last 20 some years.
    • He had 251 passing yards. 3 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns. All in all a very impressive game. Problem is I do not envision his rushing ability translating like that over the course of the upcoming season. Yeah it will be something to account for from time to time but one it's not sustainable and two you don't want to put his durability to the ultimate test against a motivated defender willing to take a penalty and a fine. And plus with our backfield. Two 1k yard rushers. That's what they're here for. Then we have a much improved WR room. That means Bryce has to elevate those passing numbers substantially. The fact of the matter is regardless of circumstances it did take him 23 games to surpass Kyle Allen's single season passing yardage from 13 games in 2020. And that is not a high bar by any means. Whatever QB tier Bryce ends up in from here amongst his peers this upcoming season when it's all said and done it will be with his arm.
