Since the merger in 1970, there have been 400 teams start the NFL season with a record of 0-2, according to Stathead. Of those 400, only 38 have reached the playoffs. That's 9.5 percent of 0-2 teams. It has been a while since teams that started the year 0-2 made it to the postseason.

If that is the actual line in the sand then Matt Rhule agent is dialed into the college openings and he will take one of those before Tepper gets around to it

And that school will owe David Tepper a lot of money to buy out Rhule’s contract. In a way, it’s a win for everyone involved including the fans

NFL contracts aren’t the same as college ones though.  It would be interesting to know the details of Rhule’s.  Buyout clauses I don’t think are as standard in the pros.  For example, Petrino didn’t have one when he quit the Falcons to go back to college.

Most NFL ones generally have an offset clause.  So if he landed some sweet Nebraska gig after being fired and was going to make the same money in college….Panthers don’t owe him if they fire him.

    • I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

    • Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
