why?

Whats the point of that?  Might as well make rhule coach this through.  This season is done.

Yep, this season was lost last year when Rhule was retained. Even if he was fired last year we probably still suck this year because of the damage hes done though. If hes fired today it will take a couple of years to recover. Nice goin tepper.

Its pretty toast, but with rhule at helm its guaranteed failure, bur might as well atleast try something else for the rest of the season.  there is talent on the roster

I asked yesterday but where is the talent on this roster?  What is our best position group?

I just dont understand firing rhule and promoting mcadoo to try and win a few games.  That does nothing.  We are basically out of the playoffs as it is might as well trot rhule out.  This is all his design

There’s 0 reason to fire Rhule now. The entire staff is his guys save for like 3 or 4 coaches. Firing him achieves nothing. The whole staff is unqualified to be coaching an NFL team.

I tend to agree although we have seen interim coaches come in and do better, as recently as last year with the Raiders. Neither Wilks or McAdoo are Rhule guys and both have previous HC experience. Something like McAdoo HC with Snow and Rhule gone then promote Wilks to DC. I don't think there's a chance in hell regardless that we turn our season around but that would be better than what we've seen so far with Rhule and would be some progress. Plus then you have an early head start on the coaching search for next year.

I wouldn't be mad at seeing if Wilks could be the guy.  He got a raw deal in AZ...  I think we will be worlds better with just dismissing Rhule and Snow, and I honestly don't really give a poo about his underlings beyond that.  I'm sure they'll follow, but we'll be fine.

That really is the best possible scenario for the rest of the year, because it's not like a Leftwich, Payton, or Flores is gonna come on mid-season, so may as well see what Wilks can do.

it's like giving a fake hundo to a homeless man. uncommonly cruel given the desperation

C’mon Philly, you’re better than this, been reading your posts since the old, old days.   Werent you on the charlotte observer forums before we got the huddle?

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
