This team winning a few games is a horrible thing to hope for. Go watch the the end of 2018 where the Allen lead Panthers fought tooth and nail to defeat the Saints’ third stringers and waterboys to essentially drop 6 spots in the draft or whatever if that kind of weird poo excites you.

The moral victories are redundant, why do people need them over anger over? That isn’t hope. The top pick in a qb heavy class is hope.

I agree with that Saints game at the end of 2018.  RR played to win the game, keeping in most of the starters (except Cam).   We dominated the whole game.

Tanking the last game of the season, fine.
Tanking the last 12 games of the season...I'll pass.

We'll probably end up tanking anyhow,  its what Tepper is trying to do.

But it really all comes down to PJ in the end.  If PJ plays smarter than he has ever played, we could upset some teams.

My friends, we are here. We wanted hope...we wanted to talk about the future instead of the failed past
which miserably seemed destined to repeat itself every week.

2 admissions....I am a homer and I am an optimist. But admit it...we all want to be here. I will get the
first bold prediction out of the way...the Panthers will beat the Rams this Sunday.

Wilks. So word was Tepper wanted an experienced HC for the next hire. Check. Failed??..Well, he only
got 1 season in Arizona. Gee...how many times does that happen? I am sure there is a little motivation
there.

And.....how did he get on this staff in the first place? I cannot imagine that Rhule went out looking for
previous head coaches who might replace him. Wilks was picked by someone else....so curious about
who that was and obviously convinced Tepper forced the issue.

Wilks seems like the anti Rhule. Not saying that Rhule was a bad guy...just a fish out of water. No doubt
he wanted to succeed and meant well.

Right off the bat Wilks fires 2 [Rhule] coaches. Forget about brass balls....he has real balls...not
arrogance but confidence in his vision.

We all loved the Wilks press conference. Not hype...just real. He is business, straight forward, and if you
look closely, there is some affection there. OMG...we have someone who understands the heritage of this
franchise. This is important...this is our soul. It gives the team meaning. Again, it means something to be
a Panther. It means playing with a purpose. We did not need a damn brand. We had something more
meaningful than that and thankfully we just got it it back.

I cannot imagine that there is anyone who does not hope that this is the right place and the right time for
Steve Wilks. What a story...hometown West Charlotte guy. Has paid his dues and although the Arizona
experience was painful and ugly...seems like a guy that would learn from that.

Wilks has a big challenge with the offense. I hope he can have a positive influence there. It was
encouraging to see him spending time with McAdoo. QB situation...oh dear...but...a fresh perspective
could not hurt. Offense please.....just stay on the field a little longer. Walker.....please please play a decent
game.

Bottom line....no surprise....I am hoping Wilks can turn things around and be the coach of the future. I
know odds are against that but that does not seem to concern him. One of the reasons I like him...he says
it is not about him.
Wilks seems like the kind of guy that will really inspire players....and they will respect him and give their
all for. Most importantly, Wilks is a Panther. He will not let the team forget who we are.
I bet there are a lot of people out there who think the Panthers are a mess. Well, for the first time in years,
I think we are not.

I also think moving forward this team will surprise people. First up is the Rams. I will be watching on
Sunday.

GO PANTHERS. KEEP POUNDING!!

I agree. The team will come out playing inspired ball similar to when we signed Cam last year vs Cardinals

As for the moment the D and ST already look competent, yet that is where Wilks made his staff changes.

That's the worry, isn't it?

Rivera took play-calling duties off Wilks when he was the DC here and he flamed out in Arizona, but he has the brass balls to fire Snow, the only Co-ordinator in Charlotte actually succeeding?

Makes me think he's an egomaniac.

For the past couple of years huddlers embarrassingly claimed the team was only a qb away from competiting (lol)…

but this year, it is more close to being true than any other year and yet we have had the worst start

just goes to show that’s how badly we need hope at that position and the best chance is the draft considering all data

PJ upsetting a few teams won’t change that but it will change our chance to obtain that. No thanks. Though I doubt that’ll happen anyways.

Point is barring a miracle I’m certainly not hoping we beat a few poo teams or teams having a poo or injured day on the season since I think winning 12 straight and making the playoffs is never going to happen.

I don't know.  I was disappointed with keeping McAdoo in place and firing defensive and ST coaches, as if that's where the problem is.

I forgot that Wilks had to have his DC duties relieved by RR, and as I recall, the D looked better when RR took over.

In any case, hopefully he's only giving McAdoo a couple weeks to get his head out of is ass or to transition someone in.

In the end, if we get better QB play, we'll be a better team.  Lets hope PJ gives us that.

As I said.  Excuses.

Well, the fact is, we are where we are

mahomes and Allen and their coaching staffs aren’t coming to rescue the franchise

a lot of coaches don’t  set the world on fire that first year…you follow enough of the nfl for me to not have to list them

Given that, at this moment, there are two choices, try and enjoy this team with what’s left of the season or be miserable

im a total realist about the state of this franchise but I can get behind a coach who absolutely understands what’s probably go to happen to him, knows the situation he is in, but rolls his sleeves up and says ‘Keep Pounding’

and WIN THE DAY

that is the culture and Brand this team needs every day, not the pablum from Rhule

the fact is, life is very short and WIN THE DAY is what we should all strive to do

i am very optimistic

Love it.

And that's exactly how he projects in everything I've seen.  He has that gravitas about him that makes you want to be your best self.  I am optimistic.

We are probably going to have a decent draft pick we don't have to tank to get a good QB.

The Jets, Jags and Browns tanked many times for QB's and it didn't work out for them several times.

The Bills, Bucks, Rams, Chiefs, Broncos, Pats, 9ers, Cowboys, Packers, Ravens and Eagles did not tank for their QB's.

There is hope.  I am not expecting any great shakes this weekend, after all, other than coaching we have the same limitations we had a week ago.  There just has not been enough time to phase in any real changes.

But, that will hopefully come.  The best case is we discover that McAdoo is not as bad as he has shown thus far and was (also) being held back by The Process.  That is probably 50/50.

The OL is coming together well.  We know that, if we had the right people, they would gel as the weeks went on and they have done so.

The jury is still out on the DL.  They could be the group that benefits the fastest from the change of leadership.  We'll see, but at the least Brown has shown in year 3 what a lot of us hoped he would.

If we could walk out of this year with a strong starting OL, DL, and secondary, and having shed The Process, I'd call that a win.

I'd caution against setting expectations too high too soon.  The team has a lot to recover from, and a few days probably won't do it.  Wilks is not Bill Parcells or Hoodie, and certainly not a Walsh or any other offensive guru.  But, he is not a BS artist, either.  I think that alone will help give things a push.

I agree with most of what you said.

In the end, though,  it was just as @CRA said.  Mcadoo's offense was ass his last two years in NY, so what we're seeing is a continuation of suckage.

Wilks is a solid leader for a NFL squad.

He has the defensive talent to do well.  He has a coach that can call it.

The biggest problem right now is McAdoo can't use CMC properly.  If he could do that, the offense could move and he could help these different variations of meh QBs we have to see some success on offense.  I mean, you don't have to be a great OC to move the ball with CMC healthy.

It will be interesting to see if Wilks can get some shift in what we are doing on O to occur.

CMC can't run the ball every down.

Baker was so bad, he threw balls even CMC couldn't catch.

If PJ just doesn't play Baker-bad, the O is going to look better.
