Who cares we are tanking. We are going to need a few years to become a contender. Trade everyone now for maximum value or we can keep everyone on big contracts and stay an average to below average team.

Tanking is a fan thing. Might as well go ahead and prepare yourself for the inevitability that we win a few games and end up with the 4th or 5th pick. It's just what we do.

he's athletic and explosive, and most of the time it ends up being nothing. he's not good against the run or in pass coverage. if he's not piling up sacks, he's not contributing otherwise. let someone else pay what he's going to get for what they believe to be a big impact player. reddick was more explosive and productive last year than burns has ever been.

if we can get a decent 1st for him, that would be huge. turn it into a franchise TE for our new QB or a WR to put with Moore. We need a pass catcher at the TE position because it's the quickest and easiest read and can help a young QB a lot. plus, we don't need anyone on the roster who is going to help us win right now.

Just curious--How do you see us keeping him?

I'm a big Burns fan & acknowledge the "fug off with this bs" type responses but I'm genuinely curious to how we navigate this.

4 years 85 million with an extra void year or to at the end. Kept the cap around ten the first two seasons.

And here is the kicker. Offer 50 million in up front cash at signing. This is what the Rams keep doing and a benefit in having a very rich owner that can dish out at loan and not wait for the money from the NFL in coming seasons. Very few people can turn down that kind of money, even if they wanted out before.

Yep, he’s incredibly overrated because of physical attributes and that stupid spider man celebration. FO should take advantage of that and move him to the highest bidder before it’s obvious he’s a one trick pony.

Why do we develop players so that they can go on and contribute to other teams success? Why the hell would we trade him? We need a cap wizard who can help us keep our good developed players. So after we trade him do we then signa  free agent to replace him that would just cost as much? Its pointless. Try to negotiate something with him that compensates him for what he does and try to keep him. He is a solid defender

Brian Flores would like a word with you 🤣

Valid but your point cuts both ways in this discussion. Those claims about being given incentives for tanking are all the more reason for teams to be extra mindful not to give any indication of impropriety. So again we're back to tanking talk being mostly a fan dream.

Here's the thing, if Panthers are trading players for assets in the future, does that mean Fitt will be the GM next year? I don't understand having a fire sale of your best players and then trying to hire a new GM. Is it Fitt's call to trade these players or is it Teppers? These trades would be for the future, why would Fitt do it if he is not going to be around for it?

If they trade him or let him walk I’ll be done with the team. Not that I’m a fan bc of Burns, but this team keeps shitting on our core players. From peppers, to smitty, to how we handled DWill, to Cam, and now possibly Burns and CMC. Tepper alone has made it harder to care for the team.

    • Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.
