Receiver Tracking Metrics: DJ Moore

Maybe DJ can rebound but it's looking like both the situation and the player are an issue. I am guessing that the 1st led to the 2nd but at this point it looks like both are true.

Not sure anything less than a change of scenery can change that now. Just brining in a new staff may not be enough. It would stink if he was another causualty of this mess here.

DJ not getting open in McAdoo’s predictable RPO junk isn’t really about DJ though

DJ has the Peppers issue.  His lack of outward emotion is something fans use against him.

Wrong thinking.  DJ not getting open is a lack of effort on his part.  There is no calculus to a route tree.

Honestly, there aren't very many routes across every offense in the league.  Receivers get open based on their own skills and effort most of the time.  On some occasions like a mesh or a dagger concept you can help a receiver get open.  But most of the time getting open is on the receiver making good cuts at the right time against the defense being run.  Not telegraphing the route.  Dozens of things.

reality is with McAdoo's RPO junk.....the defense can literally force the pass to a spot they know it would be going to.

and yeah, it's the NFL.  If the NFL largely knows what you are going to do...and that is the case with McAdoo.  Getting open isn't easy on short routes where the defenders essentially can run the route and cover the window the ball is suppose to go into.

Do I think DJ is giving 100% every play in a bad offense? What I would call the worst in the NFL?  No.  89 didn't either.

SAVE DJ!

DJ wants to be here. Because of the kinda high pick they're giving up for Corral this next draft, to me he's a lock, pencil him in.

Good thing for DJ Corral is very accurate within the 0-20yrd range. Good at quick hits. I'd imagine that would translate well to smoke routes/screens etc. especially with that quick release.

Where people may argue is that 20-30 yrs range but there is no shortage of armstrength in Corral and in drills that we were so graciously allowed to see Corral had plenty of zip and accuracy and was the first to swish the fade route hoop, twice before anybody else did it once with a nice arc and touch.

If the line gets better, more cohesive and with Matt Corrals continued growth now under the roof of BofA I certainly think we could have a Nick Richards type situation, a player coming back, stronger more precise.

DJ leaving would set Corral back for sure but I think DJ knows who the QB should be but he's not Robbie, he's a company guy for the most part he's not going to yell out who he'd prefer.

He literally just signed an extension bro.

And? Giving large contracts out when you are failing has that kind of mess involved in the clean up.

I like DJ and don't want him gone but this kind of situation can really fug up the plans. I don't blame him or hate him.

Hell his contact makes him that much more valuble in a trade with the contracts that came after. I'm sure his agent knows that. If we send another player away after RA and eat more dead cap why wouldn't a stud ask out of this place like that guy? IDK what Moore wants or would do but his play looks like crap and we all know the QB situation isn't improving.

Dead money would be in the 40 million range I think. Can't trade him not this early in the first year of the contract.

I understand and doesn't contradict anything I said. Could be a really bad spot. His effort is easily questioned while noting the entire situation.

    • Roger all that. Do you think BY avoided any sacks last game? This oline is not what you're touting them to be. They are much better then 2023! Much much much better than 2023. But come on now, you'd expect this expensive oline (most are run blocking specialist) to at least dominate in the run game every game.  And... I keep telling you our WRs and TEs are not that good yet. I mean last Sunday was a prime example. Our receiving targets never make plays like those. Never. And this is from one of the worst teams in the league. Shough could have easily had 3 INTs if not for his receivers making plays on the ball. Our guys just don't do that. XL almost allowed an INT backing up out of bounds instead of coming to the ball. And everyone would have blamed that on BY. That's why he doesn't throw to that dude. I can't recall a game except maybe the second Falcons game - maybe, where I thought our receivers could possibly be better than the other team's. I think TMac and Coker have a lot of potential. But they're aren't consistent. But they're young and WILL improve. I'm confident of that.  I don't agree that BY was drafted to only stand in the pocket. He has always been best off schedule - for better or worse.
    • Do you think you will get a direct answer?  Icky giving up 5 pressures (playing hurt in his defense) by himself and Bryce only getting sacked once tells you he played well in the pocket.  He extended plays and converted some tough downs.
    • I've been very apprehensive about potentially firing yet another head coach. But Canales needs to focus on being a head coach first and foremost and begin handing off some responsibilities like playcalling duties and begin overseeing the entire team or we need to assess all possible ideal HC candidates in the offseason.
