It's nice to have a taller receiver but it isn't a necessity anymore. Besides we tried this with the likes of Benjamin and Funchess and both ultimately proved to be useless.

Agreed. If you look at the top 10 redzone offenses in the NFL this year, only 2 of them have a big boy receiver.  Those two teams are ATL and Dallas.

Make them throw in pitts for good measure

I mean if we are going to take on their last 2 first rounders, they better give us next year's first as well... bc they are goin to get expensive.

I guess we will give them Elfein and Hartsfield to make the deal even for both teams.

Big bodies... I think they've shifted that to the TEs across the league. With WRs being primarily quicker/faster and shifty. Bigger dudes usually have a problem with routes which leads to a difficulty seperating.

ATL has Pitts who "should" be an absolute monster in the redzone yet he only had a couple TDs on the year going into yesterday

We also have TE's for that. Specifically one which is 6'4 and currently being paid an obscene amount of money for the skillset he offers. I can't even picture Ian high pointing a ball. Sullivan & to a lesser extent Tremble I can see, however.

TMJ is what I expected to be our redzone threat since we drafted him. At LSU that certainly was the case. He definitely has the physicality and hands for it. You can tell we've been practicing to make him more of a factor. One could argue he would have caught both balls if the placement was slightly different.

Either way I like where we're heading in that regard. Redzone/short distance has been problematic for this team for a minute... and tbh, Cam and JStew bailed us out ALOT in the past. Funchess wasnt consistent but he was our last true "redzone threat" at WR...iirc

How about using that 6'4" Tommy Tremble guy?

Athletically, Marshal is your go to for jump balls. Longer arms, and higher verticals. Not to mention a better catcher. TBF, Terrace did catch that 2nd, just not in bounds.... a better placed ball and its a TD.

Could be a fun strategy to follow up our QB R1 pick with a top TE or WR.  We finally have a OL so maybe go after the receiving dudes to pair with him.

Looking at Michael Mayer TE Notre Dammit or Quentin Johnson WR TCU

Although I do love Jordan Addison WR as just a playmaker WR.  Could just get our QB, trade up for Addison and call it an offense.  He's been the best WR in college football for 2 years now.  Just a mad man.

Stroud/Young +Addison a pray to thee football gods.

I agree, but I guess that the passes looked kinda forced. That may have been because on those types of passes, you certainly need precise ball placement, and I'm not certain that P.J. has that in him which just frustrates the hell out of me because they tried the same play at least twice if not three times. I would've liked to see them have Tremble sell the block, then release quickly and go to the  endzone to create some space like Greg used to do. It wouldn't have required such a high degree of accuracy and more in line with P.J.'s skill set.

Don't mind me though; I'm just still frustrated over the loss.

True, Buffalo is up there with their lot of 5'9 and 5'10" WRs running circles around people in the end zone. Gettleman and his damn basketball team strategy at WR cost us Devin Adams and Stephon Diggs.

And this thread is noodles, two better throws and that's two TDs to Marshall.

Gabe Davis is a freak athlete in Buffalo.   TMJ. is gonna develop into a very good WR. we just need patience.  also Shenault is a big bodied guy Shi Smith has potential too.  Not opposed to adding a big guy soon but not a priority IMO.  I actually would prefer a sure handed smaller guy and scat back who can catch.

    • Sometimes you get very valuable information from fantasy football sites. I found an analysis that you may want to read from The Fantasy Footballers. Perhaps you'll gain an insight as to why we moved up and got him. As always, here are a few snippets: "As expected, he dominated in the 2023 season. He averaged an impressive 2.03 Scrimmage Yards per Team Play, which ranks in the 86th percentile among all junior seasons since 2013." "Naturally, after initially playing behind two NFL-caliber running backs, Brooks’ career numbers do not jump off the page. However, his 2023 campaign gave us a glimpse of just how massive his upside could be at the next level. In fact, Brooks is one of only TWO running backs in this class to exceed 2.00 Scrimmage Yards per Team Play within their first three seasons in college."  "If you watch Jonathon Brooks’ film, you will find multiple plays in which he created yardage with his quick feet and lateral agility. He is elusive in open spaces and has an impressive ability to stack multiple cuts to avoid contact. Combined with his impressive burst and acceleration, Brooks can be a matchup nightmare in the second and third levels of the defense." "While Brooks is not the most physical running back, he does have a knack for absorbing contact and bouncing off defenders. You see this time and time again in his film." "He showcased a willingness to initiate contact with the pass rusher, the strength to maintain blocks, and the quickness to adjust to the defender’s moves. In addition, per PFF, Brooks was a top-three running back in the 2024 class in pass-blocking grade last season. He was also one of only two running backs in the class to average a 0% pass block pressure rate, highlighting just how effective he was as a blocker." "In short, Brooks has tremendous upside as a prospect. Even with his ACL injury, I would still be comfortable drafting him in the early second round of rookie drafts. In fact, I would not be shocked if he finished his career as the most productive running back in this class. However, we just need to temper our expectations for his rookie year as he slowly ramps up to full health." Marvin Elequin provides more here (including video clips): https://www.thefantasyfootballers.com/dynasty/2024-rookie-profile-rb-jonathon-brooks-fantasy-football/   Basically, Brooks has the potential to be a beast, and was well worth the 46th pick (and most mocks had him going mid second round anyway). He's not JAG. Someone had to make the move and take him, and we were the ones to do it. He's elusive, has good speed and acceleration, exceptional contact balance, and is an outstanding blocker. Just like any nice RB transitioning to the league, he will need to get used to taking what the defense gives him, while also showing discriminating patience, but he has demonstrated some ability on that front in college. Brooks' only real knock is the ACL. But ACLs aren't career ending anymore, or even skill ending as evidenced by Dalvin Cook, Todd Gurley and others. We'll just need to temper our expectations during his rookie campaign while he gets back to form. Once he does, we'll finally have the talented three-down back that has eluded us since Stew retired.

Took the Rams trade but stayed put at 52 and at the top of the 3rd.
