Rams Offering Two (Future) Firsts for Burns

Aaron Donald flirted with retirement as well. Imagine those guys leave and Cooper Kupp gets injured or something. All of a sudden we’re talking top 5 picks.

haha okay... so what if none of this happens... and the Rams go back on a deep playoff run? Then we end up with pick 28-32....

You are thinking in a silo.. The picks are in two years. So its based off of the Rams performance next season and the following. This year they are struggling with injuries and still competitive. Next year they have their core under contract and you are adding Burns... then you look at their division....

49ers
- Barely any draft picks in the upcoiming draft

- Trey Lance is the only QB on the roster

- only 34 players on their roster next year with 3 pciks in the draft and 15mil in cap space

Cardinals

- Most likley  a fired head coach

- QB eating a poo load of cap space and not performing on game day

- Their roster is built for an air raid offense and the new coach defintely wont be running that, so there will be roster turnover

Seahawks

- No QB on the roster

- OC will become a HC; so a new offense will be installed

-plenty of draft capital and salary cap

You have to look at this holistically, and not scream with confidence that the Rams are going to suck. Their division's future is in flux.

They are 3-4 this year.  I guess "competitive" is relative

McVay may "retire" to Amazon

Donold is in his 30s

Stafford is hurt and is 35

I get your point about the division but I think you have to gamble that they are going to suck moving forward.  They dont have any assets or cap room to improve in the off season

Its worth the risk.  Do you really envision a scenario where they go deep in the playoffs next year?  How do they get better in the off season?

We trade Burns for two firsts and then we’re gonna waste at least two firsts trying to replace him over time.

Who's winning the elections, superbowl, nba championship, world series, when's the next civil war, and what are the winning lottery numbers Mr Nostradamus? Since you just know the Panthers will have to waste picks to replace Burns, you must know the rest.

Stafford is 35 and his play hasnt been good this year.  McVay flirted with retiring last year.  They are going to suck once everyone jumps ship

And that's something the Burns Fan brigade isn't considering.

These two draft picks have the possibility (a real one) of turning into Top 10 BOTH SEASONS.

To pass on that in favor of someone who is not that much of an impact player on Defense (he's good but not elite), would be a complete and total fail on Fitt's part.

And I truly hope there is no stupid handshake deal by Fitts to re-sign him 'cause that would be an idiotic move on his part as it would handcuff him.

Even if none of those happens, they aren’t a very good team. They are an old team getting older, and have no way to get better outside of free agency because they traded away all their draft picks. They currently have a losing record and are third in their division and it looks like it will only get worse for them.

we need a franchise QB NOW.

a first round pick two years from now does not help us immediately.

Its playing the long game.  We arent winning this year.  We will draft a qb in april and we arent winning next season with a rookie qb.   Those picks will set us up nicely
