Justin Fields 61 yard rushing touchdown

I have no doubt Fields would have sucked with Rhule coaching him. But he's better than anything we have now and likely better than the QBs we will be in position to draft given Wilks being an actual NFL coach.

I really liked him but when he slid I assumed it was because he had flaws I didn't see. I am, after all, a terrible talent evaluator lol. I'm glad he's finding success and I hope that bears team can build around him.

It would’ve been similar to what he was drafted into with Nagy. All qb prospects have flaws. Trading for Darnold wouldn’t have stung as much if we drafted fields along with that. It was a mistake to not draft him. The ones who didn’t want him will continue to move the goalposts. Fields is on an upward trajectory and he IS their offense, the bears are gonna have a top 5-7 pick with insane amounts of cap space. This was essentially his first year and he’s doing these things already.

It’s the same thing we heard with Cam. Puts up great numbers and plays really well but he’s not winning because the team around him wasn’t very good. And fields has a worse team around him then cam did his first couple of years. There were people on this site questioning if he was actually a franchise qb (he always was from day 1) after his second season.

Cam wasn't a great passer and I have a feeling Fields won't even reach Cam level passing.

I don't want a Cam level passer drafted by the Panthers.

When Goodell said "The Panthers select J...." I was like Ustin Fields!!! But no.  No offense to Jaycee though, he's a great corner

If I was tepper I would at some point call fitt into the office and have him go over the scouting report on fields and figure out how they missed this knowing damn well we needed a guy at the time.

Fields put up good yardage numbers in college, and he was historically accurate. Cam? Not so much. So, my feeling is that he can pass, he just needs to be provided better weapons and needs a better O-line. Nagy tried to break him with all kinds of foolish regarding mechanics. Now, he has to re-learn, as the coach is allowing him to play to his strengths. Fields just needs time and weapons to put it all together. NFL types are VERY high on him as a result of the last several weeks. Hell, if he had any type of team, he'd be in MVP discussion.

    • It's amazing how much yall can say the same things over and over and not annoy yourselves with it.
    • If you only look at measurables, Mingo and Legette might seem similar.  But when you actually look at them and watch them play, they aren't close to the same.   And this is coming from someone who is skeptical about Legette, although ultimately I believe he will work out.  I've just always disagreed with the comparisons to Mingo.   Mingo tests better than he plays/runs, whereas Legette plays/runs as well as he tests.
    • As bad as things were with the Panthers last year, we still had 4 other games outside of the 2 we won that we came very close to winning.  Could throw the Falcons game in there too, it was tied going into the 4th. I'm not really sure what to expect this year.  I don't think we'll make the playoffs.  However, we play in a very weak division where no team has a standout QB.  On paper, our OL should be good, and could be great if Ikem improves.  That alone could help mask a lot of problems on offense.  Should allow us to run the ball better.  Even if Bryce doesn't improve, the OL should at the very least give him more time to make the easy throws underneath and let a guy like Legette work his magic after the catch. And I think this defense in a 2nd year with Evero should, at the very least, be in the top 16.  I'm expecting our run defense to be as good as it has been in years. I think this team could push for 7-8 wins.  But it could also finish with 2 wins again.  That is just how the league works.  Jets offense was miserable last year, and yet they still won 7 games.   We won't really get a good feel of it until after the preseason, and even then, who knows.
