That's a screwy situation that Raiders players are in. McDaniels is on the hot seat, and there are always questions of stability when the coach is trending to be fired. I don't know that there's anything better than Carr though, so he's probably safer than any of them. I think that it would be more likely that he'd ask for a release.

Agreed, I don't think they'd trade him unless he requested out. He's a guy you really don't want to give away since there's a good chance you won't find anything out there better any time soon. Honestly I'd consider him a selling point for prospective coaches.

I like Carr, he's wayyyyy more legit than Teddy, Sam, Baker. But I'm also a little sick of taking other teams' scraps. I've seen people compare Carr to Stafford, just needing to get out of a terrible team but I don't think Carr is quite on that level (when Stafford was healthy anyways) and likely won't lead a team to a SB win. Not the biggest fan of giving up more draft capital for a vet QB, and while his contract wouldn't cripple us or hamstring us in the mid/long term, the cap hits are probably a bit high if he's on the team.

I would completely defer to the new HC, especially if it's a guy I want like Harbaugh, Payton, Steichen. If they wanted Carr and the plan was for him to be our Andy Reid era Alex Smith, then by all means pull the trigger. Otherwise I say just take best QB available this draft and roll with him (then rinse and repeat every 2-3 years until we find a legit franchise QB). Maybe we could do both if the new HC wants to let the rookie sit like Reid did with Mahomes and some other coaches have done with young QBs.

If the raiders continue to suck, they will end up with the 1st or 2nd pick.  They may want to re-set with Stroud or Young.  Carr might be available for a 2nd.  I think I would do that and let Corral learn.

We'll be picking somewhere around 5-10.  Get a stud WR or DE in the first and call it a day.

Do you have examples that I could review of Carr slipping? Are we sure it's not the system?

Even with their awful HC choice this year that stat stands out above the 1 300 yard game and no 3 TD games this year. I don't think he is awful and I would be fine in a couple of situations with us picking him up as a FA but I don't want to spend any draft capital on him.

So I guess the Raiders fielding the worst defense in the NFL doesnt play a role here?

Absolutely.  In on every deal.  As a bridge quarterback to a future draft pick, we could become competitive almost immediately and he would also be an excellent mentor to the eventual future QB of the team.  Cap friendly contract is a bonus; what’s not to like?

Carr might also make Carolina a more attractive place for a new head coach

I dont know bro Cam was raw as fug his first season.   Without looking at his stats I think year 3 was when he exploded

I'd say Cam was more polished than Anthony Richardson. Cam's final year he threw for almost 3k yards and had 30 passing TDs to 7 INTs at 66% completion rate.

      Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.

      I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
