The FA list is pretty comical. Teddy/Baker/Sam/PJ/Heinicke/Kyle Allen. Been there done that. Then you have Jimmy G, Brissett, Minshew. Then you have Keenum/Dalton and a couple other aging backups that may or may not even be interested in football. I don't really want any of them for more than $5M max

From  that list,  Brissett, Minshew and Darnold would probably be the the best ones for the salary they would require.

No. Final answer.  There is nothing he can do where I would endorse it.  We need to rid ourselves from everything Rhule did.

So are you ready to get rid of Derrick Brown and Jeremy Chinn too?  Rhule's gone.  He can't hurt us anymore.

The reality is, while Sam is a trash tier starter, he's on the higher end for backups.

Only scenario I can see Sam Delusional staying is if he accepts the ABSOLUTE BARE MINIMUM salary....as a BACKUP and understands that he will never start another NFL Game except for injury.

If Sam's delusions on that Podcast are any indication, though, I think he honestly believes he's still "starter material" in the NFL, in which case I'd just let him walk and move on.

Let me tell you a little something about Sammy Franchise.

Not since Eric The Red have we seen a Fire Bearded  Conquering Warrior like this!!

Sammy Franchise is back and there's going to be a reckoning!!!

I love your gimmick.

Now do Matt Rhule :

"I'm a good Football Head Coach"

He has 5 games to audition. We will see how it goes. If he goes 4-1 or 5-0. bring him back. If he does like I expect, time to cut bait.

That actually sounds pretty fair to me.

It's also very unlikely he does that (I would be stunned if he did that WITHOUT a safety blanket like CMC to throw to) but yeah...I guess.

He wouldn't be the starter (he'd be holding a clipboard and cheering on his teammates which is what he does better anyway) so whatever.

GEQBUS is back to lead us to the promised land!  Faker Mayfield and Pouty PJ can't hold a candle to the Bearded Wonder The Darnold.  Let me tell you folks, we love our GEQBUS here in Charlotte.  MAKE CAROLINA GREAT AGAIN!

If Darnold goes 4-1 in the last five (meaning he would be 5-1 on the season), we will be picking around 12-16 and the current coaching staff will still be in place.  We will be out of range of Young and Stroud.

We should sign him for 2 years, 12 million - with 6 million guaranteed (meaning we can cut him in year two for a cap savings of 6m.)

Use the first for Mayer or an Edge, then use a second on another developmental QB - Levis, McKee, Richardson, Penix, Ward, etc.  One or possibly all of these will be available.  Darnold is a bridge at a reasonable cost while we develop two young QBs.

Even if Darnold sucks the rest of the year, I doubt we go into the draft next year with just Corral on the roster.  We'll offer someone a 1 year, 5m deal, just to have an adult in the room.  If Darnold is terrible, Young or Stroud will be back on the table.  I could see Houston taking Stroud and Young falling due to his size.  It would not shock me if he fell all the way to the 7-10 range and we snag him.

Sam isn't on the higher end of backups.  A high end backup is either a talented development player you want to take over as starter or is a boring/consistent veteran that will do nothing but manage the game.  Sam is neither of those.

and I guess I should clarify.  The signature of the Matt Rhule era was his botching of the QB position.  And I want literally no one from the Rhule era around at that position.   Corral gets a pass since he is a rookie and never played.   Baker, Sam, and PJ all should go.  New coach should bring in a new batch.

    • Trevon Moehrig, Turk Wharton, Bobby Brown, Jaelen Phillips, Devin Lloyd, Nic Scourton Giving him 6 starters in 2 offseasons that cost boat loads of money or a 2nd round pick... Not exactly handing the man scraps. The point of the draft is to make the team better. You want to make this about Bryce. It isn't. It's about improving the team. And if anyone can look at our offense and go "we're good", they are lying to themselves. You give quarterbacks weapons. We SCREAMED for YEARS to give Cam some help. But now because we are trying to do it for Bryce, you all are saying we are coddling him because of his "deficiencies". It's a double-standard because you don't like the guy, clearly. But even if he does fail, guess what? The next guy has help too. Win-win.
    • we have 2 solid/above average (however you want to phrase that) wr's, which is more than half the league at least.  We dont need to be blowing more first round capital just to placate Bryce and his limitations.   We have one absolute stud (probably top 10 wr) in tmac and we have a high floor guy with insane potential if he can stay healthy.  Yeah man we are in better shape than the bulk of the teams in the league.  If you need to add some speed or whatever, sure draft in the mid rounds or wait until tc cuts.  Its monumentally stupid to spend 3 straight firsts on a wr if thats the route they go.  ITs just more and more excuses for Bryce, thats where we are at now.    "How can bryce succeed without a big possession type wr (drafts 2 for him), how is bryce supposed to exceed without a speed guy......."   Its fuging never ending.  Give EE some goddamn help on defense for once
    • Tight ends in the first round just have so much risk. Even guys that look like guarantees at the position, fail. OJ Howard is a big one that comes to mind (and I REALLY liked him and thought he was going to be a stud in the NFL). I know that every player/position can be a gamble, but when you look at Kyle Pitts (he's come a long way, but he has clearly underperformed), TJ Hockenson, Hayden Hurst, Noah Fant, Eric Ebron, etc., NONE of these guys changed the dynamic of their team for the better. Zero. In fact, most of them end up being traded before their rookie deal is up. This draft has some good tight ends. I wouldn't spend a 1st on one.
