No inside info or anything but this could be one of the very rare instances where a player gets hit in between heart beats.

Back in my high school days, we were playing a team and one of the players on the opposing team made a tackle but the offensive players helmet hit him right in the heart in between heart beats, unfortunately the player passed away. It’s much more common in baseball when the baseball hits a player in between heart beats but it can happen in football.
