Reaching for a QB in the draft is the absolute worst thing this team could do. If our guy isn't available with #9, then get the DE, LB, WR or TE that will start for the next 5+ seasons. That's a win in my book. Take a chance with a 2nd or 3rd if you want, but be sure with the 1st and the HC. Everything else will work out.

Who starts qb in that scenario?

Neither is a RB, but yet you listed one.  Levis will be gone.  So Johnston it is.

I agree that Johnston would be a good selection. And we should take him if he falls to us. But several outlets I’ve read consider Robinson as probably the best overall player in this draft. If he’s BPA and a blue chip prospect, then he’ll be considered a top #10 pick. And for a team that plays the style we play, a bell cow RB that’s also a good receiver on a rookie contract is not bad value.

I’m not against Johnston at 9 depending on our QB situation. I’m very much against a TE in the top 10. Name a franchise that has done that recently with success.

There have only been 5 tight ends taken in the top ten in the last 20 years. 4 of the 5 made at least one pro bowl, with Pitts being the only one that didn't/hasn't. Too early to call him a bust but it hasn't been a great start for the #4 pick.

I agree the return wasn't necessarily top 10 value for those 5. Kellen Winslow II, Vernon Davis, Eric Ebron, TJ Hockenson, and Kyle Pitts. I think Mayer projects to be a more complete TE than those guys who were mainly flashy receiving threats.

Pro bowl doesn’t mean poo

Whoever wins the position battle in training camp.

Again, improve the TEAM and the coaching staff. They can control those things. The QB position will work itself out.

How?  How will the qb position work itself out?  fuging a we have tried that 3 years now.   It doesn’t work like that.

Did you read the rest? I didn't say it justified their top 10 selection.

If you think you have a Kelce or a Kittle type at #9, I don't mind drafting a TE late in the top 10. Especially if that position is a huge weakness on your team.

So the Lions with Ebron and Hock. How have they been since then? Just traded Hock to a rival this year. Falcons with Pitts? They still suck years later. The other ones are retired by now.

    • So to suggest that our offensive weapons might not be as horrible as being claimed if we were to have Josh Allen throwing to them instead of Bryce is a stretch? Maybe they would be better, maybe not. But I'm not going to keep saying we need more weapons and more this and more that with a QB that struggles to get 200 yards passing in a game.  You're right, our receiving corp was ranked in the bottom 3rd of the league. Who was throwing to them? A bottom 3rd QB.  If the team wants to get better it has to be serious about the QB position. We aren't and no amount of adding weapons is going to solve the fact Bryce is a bottom tier QB or that the most serious camp competition he has ever faced was Andy Dalton.  If Carolina fans were watching any other franchise entrench themselves so vehemently around this level of QB production, we'd be laughing like he'll and waiting for our chance to play them twice a year.
    • I’ll also say agin, this is why I think we’re in a great spot this year to trade down, and maybe meeting with all these WRs is a smokescreen to try and make a WR needy team over trade to get our pick so we don’t take the guy they want. While at the same time, if Downs falls outside the Top 10, I’d be comfortable with darn near any trade involving our 2027 1st, to move up and get him.  He’s going to be one of th best Safeties in the game for years to come.
    • Teams we are better than in regards to the wr room without a doubt and there are other teams you could easily debate Ravens Pats bills miami pats jets ravens  browns jags (debatable for sure) titans Chiefs Raiders Giants (debatable) Saints  Skins
