I’m not a fan of hiring a coordinator that has  never been an HC. It’s such a different role and level of responsibility. That’s just my feelings  and I know others are ready for that gamble.

Literally Every coach was never a HC at some point. They eventually show enough to garner a HC position.

Retreads tend not to work out at roughly the same rate. Best thing a new HC can do is bring a former HC onto the staff to help provide insight and take some pressure off.

Spot on. In addition, interim coaches have a horrible track record!

This link from last year has some info on head coaching backgrounds and likelihood of success:

https://www.the33rdteam.com/category/breakdowns/is-it-possible-to-predict-nfl-head-coach-success/#:~:text=Nearly all (89.3%) had, progressed to the NFL level.

According to their chart, a coach with 6-12 years of HC experience at the NFL level may average ~1 more win per season than those with no prior NFL HC experience. Negligible difference for those with 1-5 and 12+ years of NFL HC experience.

If only Tepper had seen this article before Rhule. They found diminishing returns at the NFL level correlating to longer tenures as college HCs.

    • FLA showed everyone it’s not about superstars. they bullied the best line in the NHL into obscurity. they played hard, were in the right positions, and ran over everything that got in their way.
    • That’s really not what you said and when I even expressed doubt as to your intentions with the post you doubled down and remained unclear on whether you were trying to drag Dean Smith for whatever reason. You just got the facts wrong, which if you don’t follow the local college programs like you say then maybe you just were mistaken and thought Smith didn’t win championships or have legit superstars, and that is ok, but you just doubled down when my first post was more corrective than anything. I’m not sure what you expect posting objectively false things like “RBA has a lot of wins with nothing to show for it like Dean Smith” (paraphrasing) on a message board with plenty of UNC fans. I’m not taking it as a personal affront, we can agree to disagree, Dean Smith’s legacy fortunately will not be affected by this conversation. Screw the (Florida) Panthers?
    • Bring in the free agents and trades.  Florida is the best team and unless Tulsky makes it happen, it’s more of the same…which isn’t bad…but it’s time to win a goddamn cup.
