I wouldn't say the BiG 12 is elite competition, but Brock Purdy is doing well.  Why?  He played and started 47 games in college ( only game he didn't play was the opener his freshman year).  His college stats weren't eye popping by any means, good completion %, but overall average.  When he got to the NFL, the game wasn't too big for him.

I personally think there’s a big gap between playing where Purdy was and where Lance was. But on top of that, no game time passes basically is my issue with Lance. He needs to reps. Even if he came here he’d be competing for them. So he’d still be behind.

Yet, Lance is already ahead of where AR-15 is at this point and people are clamoring for the more inexperienced version of the two?  Lance has NFL experience now and while probably a year behind where he needs to be in development, that loss in production is on the 49ers who obviously wanted him to start this year and was until the injury.

Point being, if Lance is traded (anywhere) and shows significant progress the next two seasons, the team that gets him can probably re-sign him to a very reasonable second contract by QB standards.

I’m not sure how far along Lance is in regards to AR. He’s in the NFL but he’s also been hurt and not getting reps. AR threw passes in high school, and in college and he’s started a full year at the highest level and against competition like Tennessee and Georgia and he played alongside much inferior talent with a first year head coach at the school running a new system. He’s at least playing against high level, live, folks in real games. Lance has basically not taken a full game of significant snaps in years. And Lance has looked meh while being bolstered by an uber talented team around him. Outstanding run game and real playmakers to catch pisses with DSam and GKit.

I need to see AR on a pro team before I can judge how far behind or ahead of Lance or Love he is.

Edit: This is also what we thought of Darnold. If he showed significant progress we can get a QB without breaking the bank and it didn’t work out.

Okay, we are not going to agree on this.  You value college competition>>>>>>>reps.  I say reps>>>>>>than college competition.    Both lack the reps, but Lance has two years of NFL systems and at least SOME reps in the League.  To me that is more valuable than  simply putting on a uniform that happens to be a team in the SEC.  Richardson flashed, but looked far from great--yes, while playing in the SEC.

I don’t think second and third team NFL reps are as valuable as first. And Lance has either split reps or not gotten first team reps. So it’s hard to see him as much further ahead. Richardson has at least been throwing. Lance hasn’t. That’s my issue with Lance. And I wasn’t high on him coming out of college to begin with. And I really disliked ZWilson. He’s gotten most first team reps and has sucked. He’s about as close to a bust as you can be from the first rounders drafted that year. I need to see more Lance before I make that call on him.

Lance hasn’t played in practically 3 Damn years. Look what a year and a half off did to Watson who was considered one of the better QB’s. Lance was raw as sh!t and playing no where near an SEC level when he was playing 4 seasons ago.

Lance gained nothing this past season since his injury. Nothing.

AR gained a lot more playing in the SEC than Lance did rehabbing.

Trey Lance is terrible.

Going from NDSU to Kyle Shannahan is not just jumping from FCS to the NFL, but a much bigger leap. IF it was a day 3 pick(s) going back to SF, I'd take a shot on Lance. He was a number three overall that SF gave up A LOT for.

Yes he was injured and didn't look the greatest in his limited time. I think the experience, film room and locker room that Lance was in can't be quantified. Someone will benefit from SF taking on the liability and growing pains.

Lance also turned 22 last May....he was always a developmental QB that needed patience.

I bet Steichen/Kafka would love to have Lance in the fold here in Carolina.

Bro, I thought Lance sucked as a prospect too. Has little to do with what he’s done in the NFL… although he has sucked so far too.

I’m not saying I’m against bringing him in for a 3rd or 4th round pick and see what happens. But my expectations would be extremely low. His accuracy is dreadful.

67% comp rate, 30 TD at NDSU with 1 Int is far from dreadful. In the NFL as a 21 & 22-year old youngster his stats are far from desirable, but as a 21 & 22 year old making a leap....I'm okay with it. It wasn't until year 3 that Josh Allen hit his stride.

If you are thinking of wasting draft picks for Lance or Love just resign Darnold.  He is way better than either of those bums.

BTW:  Trey Lance basically is Jordan Love.  They are very similar in stature and athletically.

    • Well bois, we gave the Devils their due! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... The jersey boys have been trying to jack our steeze for a few years now. They've followed our blueprints and studied our tape. Every offseason, they pounce on our sloppy seconds in a Newark minute. Quick with the puck, ferocious on the forecheck and stifling team defense. Down to the colors, this is this closest we'll come to having to play ourselves in Ole Stanley's Hockey Hoedown. As the postseason began, Rod stood flexing in the gym mirror and saw this guy staring back from the void... (Shutters) When beating us at our game didn't work, Timo and the Tri-State Trash tried to tango instead. Outside of a bitchass cheapshot on Freddie, that poo didn't work either. Their goon squad was getting wrecked by our bantam weights. As much as we all wanted to see Svechy or Staal Bunyan literally break someone in half after the Great Dane went down, they didnt need to. Our munchkins were monsters! Jarvis obliterating giants at the blue line, Logan laying the Stank on dudes twice his size and Blakers blasting Timo into next season. It was beautiful to see! (Side note: Does JBlo wear lead weights under his pads? 170lbs shouldn't be able to hit that hard!) We closed it out in 5, for the gentleman's sweep. Only team in the league to win a series in each of the past 7(?) seasons! And, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year... Onto the awards: Key To The Series : 6 for 19 - .316% IT FINALLY WORKED!!! MVP : 16/180 g/s - .911 save% - 2.53 gaa Seriously, without this dude, we would've won in 3! (Trust me bro) 3rd Star : 6/94 g/s - .936 save % - 1.59 gaa The Great Dane   2nd Star : 3 g - 5 a - +1 - 20:38 toi/g - 18 hits - 3 bs - 58.1% fo 3 PP goals and the 2OT series winning goal! WOOAAAHHH NELLY!!!!   And, your 1st Star of the series : 5 g - 1 a - +3 - 16:48 toi/g - 16 hits - 1 bs - 1 tk - 50% fo Zero, I repeat, zero penalty minutes for the series! MISSSTAAAHHH SVEEECHNIKOOOV!!!!!! Onto The Next: Now, we wait for the Habs to make it a nasty 7 game slog, while we recuperate. And, hopefully, get Nikishin, and some of the other black aces some real peactice time. We are gonna need those guys at some point. Because, if you think the Devils were dirty, hoooo boy, wait till you see what's next...
    • I don’t watch college football anymore (used to be Stanford STH but meh), but my wife is Hawaiian and her favorite color is purple, so I guess I knew Tet was my new favorite player to root for when he came out in a purple suit and lei and threw up the Shaka.
