Things get chippy here and most of us are guilty in some capacity of attacking one anothers opinion it's the nature of sports fan is short for fanatic. I just thought it was funny seeing your handle attached to a poo emoji. But in regards to this discussion I must say the energy in here doesn't line up. Now I've seen some very weird excuses and building up of just flat out either bad or mediocre quarterbacks the last three or so odd years here. So to see people saying another is a quitter because he does not want to play through a knee injury is just not a good look for this community. There may be others in the sports world echoing this sentiment but when you consider one of them is probably Skip Bayless keep in mind that's who you're aligned with. Just something to chew on 🤷‍♂️

lol...I would never use Bayless as a source. I ignore him.

Sean Payton expressed disagreement with Jackson’s decision to go public with his injury status, adding that Payton is “hearing grumblings” from the building, and that there are “teammates” who believe his “process has been slower than expected.”

The source for that report was Sean Payton.

Lamar Jackson wasn’t with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night during their AFC wild-card game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Not on the plane. Not on the bus. Not in the locker room and not on the sideline.

His social media accounts during an excruciatingly competitive loss were silent, as they have been since he raised eyebrows across the league by tweeting out an injury update Thursday.

The absence was noticeable. The silence is loud. And now the future for Lamar Jackson is as opaque as ever.

..... Payton said. “I just don’t like it. The team’s more important right now than you and we appreciate the information on your injury status. You’re not playing. I get it.

“I don’t see this player back in Baltimore next [season],” Payton said definitively. “I think he’ll end up with another club.”

Seemingly everyone in the NFL is talking about some aspect of it, titillated by the ambiguity of the situation — or simply reading into the demeanor of Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh or the eyebrow-raising comments of Ravens wideout Sammy Watkins. It’s a small circus that feels like it’s about to get a whole lot bigger and louder, and more dramatic.

https://sports.yahoo.com/will-the-ravens-trade-lamar-jackson-its-not-as-unthinkable-as-it-used-to-be-084258224.html

[Sammy Watkins].."Hope miraculously something happens, somebody reach out to him, whether it’s a coach or somebody, and he decides to play. But that’s a question if he’s healthy or he’s not. I don’t know. I haven’t been watching him.”

Still, Watkins seems to believe that, if Jackson had his long-term contract, he’d be playing.

“I think the world is ready to see Lamar back on the field, doing what he do best, and get all the stipulations and contract stuff behind him,” Watkins said. “I pray somebody talks to him like, ‘Man, just sign the deal.’ You know what I mean? And he get out there and hopefully, if . . .  he’s healthy, he can just come play this Sunday. We all know that’s up to Lamar and whatever goes on. Hopefully, they get something done. The world wants to see Lamar be a Baltimore Raven for the rest of his life. . . . [T]he world wants to watch Lamar Jackson. That’s a phenom talent, a talent that you rarely come by. Things that he do on the field and things that you see, to be quite honest when he’s out there, he makes everybody play better, just to have him in that huddle. I pray that somebody reach out to him or that he’s really truly getting healthy and can play, that he wake up Thursday and be like, ‘All right, forget it. I’m playing.’ I think that would change the whole trajectory of our season.”

Maybe Watkins is the only one on the team who thinks that. Or maybe he’s reflecting the mood of the locker room.

Regardless, it’s probably a good idea for Watkins not to sit next to Jackson on the team plane to Cincinnati.

I just love all the high and mighty speeches when everyone on here would do the same thing that Lamar and his agent (mother) are doing

I don't think everyone would do what Lamar is doing. It depends on their mentality. Some people care more about than anything. Others don't.

Lamar has already made $32,774, 549. He's not exactly starving. If I were in his situation knew I was assured of making anywhere between $150-200 million over the next 4-5 years while I was still in my mid 20's (Lamar is only 26)  I could care less about "setting the market". I'd more concerned about pleading with ownership to get some players so I can get the one thing missing on my resume, A SB ring.

Most of us saw that game last night. If Lamar had played last night and had a Tyreek Hill, Justin Jefferson, or a Cooper Cupp to play along side his TE Mark Edwards I don't think the Bengals would have beat them last night. The back up ,Huntley, may have won that game going away if he had a big threat WR and he's not even as good as Lamar. Jackson is a freak of nature. Add another couple of freakish WR's to go along with that power running game and they can go toe to toe with anyone in the AFC at home or on the road.

He'd be 30 or 31 when that deal expired. Barring injury, he'd be young enough to get another blockbuster deal. I wouldn't want to play for chump change (relative to QB's of course). But I think I could scrape by $40 mil per year and the huge signing bonus I'd receive up front.

People are really riling themselves up over a 26yr old deciding to look out for his long term health instead of putting his career and future earnings at risk? 😮

It's not like the guy was checking out for Call of Duty double exp weekend. His injury was probably worse than what was diagnosed and/or there's been complications during the recovery. There's plenty of history with NFL teams and doctors not being as upfront about the severity of a player's injury.

Good for Lamar. I hope that wherever he ends up, it's somewhere that will appreciate him as the person he is rather than treating him like an expendable commodity that most players are viewed as.

I don't care what Watkins, Payton or anyone says; Jackson doesn't have to risk himself by playing through injury. At the end of the day, it would really be stupid for a player to risk his career for a franchise that is unwilling to give him the kind of financial generational security that he feels that he and his family are worth. Perhaps he may have played if he had that security, or perhaps not. We don't know. But I am not going to fault him for trying to protect himself, or if he believes that he couldn't give 100 percent. If his not playing in that situation alienates people that's their problem. They will still be talking poo if Jackson had gone out and looked bad or hurt himself worse by playing, and none of them would be trying to reach into their pockets to pay him what he will probably get on the market.

I don't give a crap if he plays or not.  If there is significant risk of further injury then don't take the field I am all good with that.  Health is totally separate from being there supporting your teammates in an important game.  Maybe he would see something on the field that he could relay to Huntley and help them win.  Smacks of a ME mentality that will never allow him to be the leader he needs to be to win a championship.  Don't want him on my team if that is the case.

There's some strange stuff happening in Baltimore - I honestly would not be surprised if they fired the entire coaching staff, Harbaugh included. But yeah - Jackson is gone. It'll be a tag & trade.

Ravens ownership and management is just as guilty, if not more so for the Ravens' predicament in my opinion. They're ultimately the ones pulling the purse strings and the ones that could not seem to get the quality of skill-position players around Jackson that would've allowed the team to move forward while Jackson was on his rookie contract. Now they're going to have to pay one way or another.

I mean, sure, last night's game may have come down to a pretty crazy call to QB sneak it from one and a half yards out, but poo happens. They are not going to fire Harbaugh over that. They're just not.

The Ravens have a long track record of being a well run football team.

If they don't think that he's worth the money that he's seeking...they are likely correct.

I'm not interested.

What fans think is a nothing story.

What teammates think is another matter.

If a guy's teammates have trust issues with him, that's something I'd like to know about.

Not traveling with the team with injury is a normal occurrence due to.medical reasons. Tua was in south Florida yesterday as well.

Coaches coach, not the players. This has nothing to do with Jackson's leadership.
