I told everyone it was going to be focused on an experienced HC. The young coordinator interviews were to gage where thier mindsets were at and compare plans and such.

It was always going to be a experienced coach after the Rhule experiment.

Why I said yesterday that I'd expected Wilks, Reich, Payton to get second interviews and Steichen if he agreed to the front office Coordinator plans for a younger coach.

Agree on your comment on Steichen, making sure he is surrounded by experience is key. I would push for the same thing.

Frank Reich shouldn't have been fired from the Colts. That organization is a mess from the top down and the fact he had the success he did after Luck unexpectedly retired was a miracle. He will need a strong DC to create a competitive team though. Eberflus had that defense humming and the main reason the team sucked in 2022 aside from Matt Ryan being washed out was their defense took a hard fall from grace.

That said, Frank Reich just feels like a bland hire. Won't excite the fanbase, but might produce results on the field. Best thing he has going for him is he might have a good chance to develop a rookie QB.

Reich being hired will be a turning point away from the depths of the sea where Jets and Dolphins reside.

Maybe the Panthers are trying to pair HC Reich to assistant HC Wilks thus both getting 2nd interviews close together.

Reich will make Corral the QB the Panthers knew he could be when they stole him in the third, definitely. No better coach/NFL QB mentor than Reich, Harbaugh, Payton.

We need one of those former QBs for the QB position going forward, we will now have an in house QB expert which we've lacked like forever.

Nobody wanted us and nobody else wanted Wilks. We got each other though. 6-11 for life. Everyone better get on the mediocre bus now before it takes off.

I'm outski, bro. That's just self inflicted wounds at that point.

I actually like this idea. As I said, my ideal scenario at this point is HC Wilkes, OC Reich, and DC Fangio (though I realize he is less likely). Another awesome DC hire would be Evero if their new coach does not want him (also unlikely).

Reich could be for us what Doug Pederson has been for Jacksonville. All we’d need is a young talented QB.

    • Yeah man you watched someone else.  Styles is an excellent tackler and only missed like 1 or 2 tackles all year.  He is a freak athlete that can cover as well.  He is who I desperately want but no way will he be there at 19.   As to this draft there are only a handful of uber talent players (Styles, Reece for sure) so I would love to trade out of 19 if the opportunity is there.  Pick up a 1rst for next year.  I think its a fairly deep draft, especially on the defensive side but not a lot of "holy poo this guy is a game changer" players.  And for some reason I watched a lot more college football this year than I should have.
    • I’d like Gabe Jacas in middle rounds. Athletic 6’3” 275. Seems like he could be OLB in current system or traditional DE if we were to ever change back schemes.  2x state wrestling champ. I love having linemen w martial arts or wrestling backgrounds - they understand leverage and it shows on the field.
    • And Dallas can have him. Something about Miami just running straight at him over and over to a victory doesn't sit well with me. It reminds me of the Minnesota vs. Dallas game last year where Minnesota ran downhill at Parsons the whole game effectively taking him out of the game. We need another ILB leader and I believe that is CJ Allen out of Georgia. I would look to take one of the Miami OLBs who were coached by a HOF OLB in Taylor at 19 and get Allen in the 2nd.
