I wouldn't be surprised. I thought they were going to hire him straight out of Indy because it was such a perfect fit.

Everybody knows I want Harbaugh but even I can't deny Reich is the perfect fit for the Panthers. His family is still here, his kids grew up here, his grandkids are here. This job to him is about FAMILY. His Panthers family who still appreciate 1996 and remember him as our QB and a place he calls home.

I really hope they can keep Wilks as DC/Assistant HC.

Both Wilks or Reich are just boring hires to me.

Well, I for one am glad Tepper is not impulsively jumping on the shiny new toy, the most media hyped guy.  If he hires Reich I will be impressed...at least in his process this time.

Is Reich the answer?  Don't know.  He is not the sexy hire.  He has had some success and as others have said is well connected and has an eye for quality assistants.

At this point, I am not in love with any of the candidates.  I just hope Tepper does select the coach that the decision team is behind.  Does not look like he is going off the rails this time like Irsay. (Glad I am not a Colts fan.)

I can't necessarily agree with that. He might be an imperfect candidate but Hackett was just what his name suggested. His coaching history literally did prove that prior to being hired.

They both were on teams doing good enough to get a look at HC but neither looks good on their own. Is Moore better than Hackett? Sure. Good enough to matter? Nope. More similar than different.

There is ALWAYS next draft, or maybe the next draft. No, the NEXT draft is definitely the one.
In all seriousness I definitely think it is time to bite the bullet.

    • Yup. Hopefully  Brandon adds some muscle this off-season but he'll probably be resting his shoulder for a while so I doubt it. Miles should probably be replaced but I don't think we find a better 4th option to be honest. So is it better to add depth along side williams and Coby or try to upgrade the 4/5 . I think adding depth will probably be more beneficial than trying to upgrade starters and bank on Brandon and Kons continuing development. I really don't think they are going to make the playoffs unfortunately. I think the big hole they put themselves in has exhausted them. They've been amazing since January 1 but I think it's come at a cost and their legs are gone.
    • The issue is the predictability of it all in a Bryce Young led offense. In 4th down attempts the Jets were at 41 and we were at 40. And we were 4th in conversation %. We were 25th in the league in 3rd down conversion because we faced so many 3rd and longs in part due to playcalling on 1st and 2nd down but more largely due to the limitations that cannot be overcome.  And people want us to spend another 1st rounder on WR as if it is going to magically give Bryce physical talent he will never possess. It's a shame we cut off our own nose just to put ourselves in this frustrating predicament.
