Coaching Interviews: Round Two

Payton wants more control than we’re comfortable with and the sentiment appears to be the same around the league. No GM wants to lame duck themselves.

I still think Wilks inclusion this late is optics driven by how he’s been cast as the player choice. Reich seems very likely the favorite.

Colts did as well but don't see him landing the gig there either. He may end up being back in Philly.

you are correct, I left them out of my post on accident. Thanks for the clarification and correction.

Just now, Jon Snow said:

He got a video conference interview last week didn't he? I could have sworn I read that somewhere.

He interviewed Sat, 1/14 virtually. After that coaches who are still alive in the playoffs cannot interview again until after the conference championship games.

Frank’s a good human being.  I’m old. I attended Maryland when he and Boomer were there back in the day

andrew luck’s decision hamstrung that franchise for years and the owner is a nut job so there is that

I don’t know what to think anymore about the Panthers

Reich’s daughter now works there so, there’s that

but like you, Steichen (only if Fangio is part of that). Reich. Wilks

people talk about the 49ers offense,  and this and that,  but that 49ers defense is the real deal and it will be that defense performing to heroic levels if they beat the Eagles

Fear the Turtle.  Class of ‘81.

    • OK, fair enough--however, since my point was that drafting a QB in the top 10 is stupid, if you consider the players who were not drafted in the top 10 or those who WERE drafted in the top 10 and did not secure starting positions with the team that drafted them, you should see the point.  Is it smart to draft a QB in the top 10 when only 4 are still starting for the team that drafted them.  Next, consider that half of that number, 2, were drafted outside the first round.  Next, there are 4 (Goff, Mayfield, Jones, and Darnold) who are starting on other teams after busting.   That number could increase as Arizona seems ready to move on from Murray, Miami is not sold on Tua, and jacksonville is still waiting for Trevor to start looking elite.  Bryce?   So to answer your question, there are MANY more QBs in the NFL who have busted and become starters on other rosters, were drafted after day 1, or are still on the cusp than the four who have become elite.  I thought that point was made.
    • I’m more upset that we are changing uniforms in the middle of this road win streak. We have won our last 3 road games in Silver Helmets, White Jerseys, and Blue Pants. We are supposedly wearing Black Helmets, White Jerseys, Black Pants this week… I am a superstitious person
    • He did so well they are moving him to RB, Legette to QB, and Moton to TE…. Interesting. Coker might struggle at LT https://www.panthers.com/news/panthers-release-depth-chart-ahead-of-week-12-for-the-2025-season
