Today marks the 100 anniversary of Cam Newton's birth.  Some Panthers fans on a local forum, The Huddle, are calling for Newton to return as a "bridge" until Carolina finds their next franchise QB.  This despite the fact that Cam passed away suddenly at the age of 88 twelve years ago.

Sam is erratic.  Good game, awful game, good game, top 5 worst rating ever game.  I'd rather have a steady constant as the bridge QB/placeholder until the rookie is ready.  Teddy Bridgewater was actually a good choice that was overpaid.  It should have been Teddy as the bridge QB and draft Fields.

You ignored what I said about dynamics. If the odds of sucking are equal might as well keep the guy that has shown he can be more dynamic, for better or worse.

I daresay that Darnold's team have generally been worse than at least some of the teams Brissett has played on, but this is going too far into the weeds for a discussion about what amounts to guys whose ceilings so far have been average at best. Brissett has zero dynamics and zero upside, so I'd rather go with someone else.

Sam Darnold has more playmaking ability.

You can argue that.. But that is just opinion based backed on more wanting to keep picks then AR-15 the actual prospect.. But that’s okay.. JMO Stroud is worth the trade up..

Great idea! Rodney Peete could be the starting QB and HC Franck Reich could be the backup QB. Why the Panthers haven't thought of this really puzzles me.

Why are you comparing him to Cam?  I've heard some Josh Allen vibes with as raw as he is plus his athletic ability.  Cam was a pretty solid passer right out of college.  Didn't he have like 4000 passing yards his rookie year?  No one is expecting that from Richardson.  

I threw his name out there because he will probably be the 4th QB with Young, Stroud, and Levis off the board before we pick.  

He's tall, huge, a machine, and run run runs. That's about as Cam as you can get. But the difference is that Cam could pass. This kid can't. It will be a massive mistake to draft him in the 1st round.

Does that save us a roster spot or cost us an extra one. I’m so confused.
