I know that they are not interested in Roger's and probably not Carr also. But they will listen to Carr and assess a fall back position if necessary.  The goal is the draft and has always been since before you know who was canned. Now that he isn't calling the shots I would bet that the draft is where they look first and foremost.

King had addressed a rumor (which he stated up front was quite possibly bullsh-t) that nobody wanted Carr or Rodgers. Bleacher Report apparently quoted that blurb.

With news that every one of the teams in question (including us) is now scheduled to meet with Carr at least, Bleacher Report has taken the story down.

Reality is, if you don't trade up to #1 you likely miss out on your guy(also doubt bears want to drop all the way to #9). You have to hedge your bets by taking the best available FA. And hope your guy falls in the draft.

And those picks weren’t for sale nor will they be when that happens again. Basically we have to be the worst team in the league to get one of those guys and that’s not happening with our new staff.

I don't think it's irrational to trade to one depending upon your belief in the prospect, but it is ill-advised if you're just trading to one because you just gotta "try." I chuckle at that notion, and I don't think that Fitterer will go about business in that way.

Tepper was extremely clear about using resources willy-nilly. Those days are likely over, unless someone wants to be fired. Wiser, or at least more thought-out, decisions are on the horizon.
