The question is WHY is he holding the ball too long. Is he not reading the defense or is he dodging pressure or no one is getting separation or did the OC call a long developing play. That’s up to our staff to figure out.

Well, just from what I've seen, he has a tendency to walk into sacks and not climb the pocket at times, instead taking off backwards for negative yards.

People should know he was almost exclusively a running QB in short yardage and RPO type plays for PSU under Franklin. Did have to come in as relief/backup a few times.  This is probably even moreso important to know re:his skills/style/background than anything else:

Yeah he was seriously limited last year by injuries. People who only started watching him then are seeing only a fraction of what he can do. It’s like two categories of top QBs in the draft.

Stroud/Young are polished passers who will have to learn to do more with less in the NFL. Young has been better at handling pressure, but size is a concern.

Levid/AR are needing some work as passers but have huge ceilings based on their raw athletic ability. Levis is the more polished passer with a higher floor while AR has the higher ceiling.

Id be happy with any of them honestly.

Pretty much agree with all of this. Especially the last part. Just take one so we can see what he’s got.

I think given our offensive line being one of our better units, we are going to get a very good look at whoever we choose. Not gonna be a ton of excuses available.

Yeah I just don't buy that.  Specifically if you look at Stroud's performance against Georgia I'm not sure how you could say that.  Conversely if you don't want to use Tua then use Kyler Murray.  When it comes to Levis.  Dude played at Kentucky.  Dynamic WR's and TE's aren't a thing there.  I would venture to say that Levis would have the same if not more success at Alabama then Young did. Levis elevated a middling program, while had a bad year by Alabama's standards with Young at the helm.  I'm not taking away from Young's skill, but his size is a flat out concern.

If stroud played like he did against GA his entire career, he would have been 1st overall no questions.
he played a nearly perfect game against the toughest comp that day. But that was 1 game. He played 25 other games b4 that Whr he couldn’t escape pressure or create outside of structure. So the question is, was that an outlier of a game or can that be his standard? I tend to believe it was an outlier. If u ever played organized sports, u know that there are days Whr u feel in the zone. Like everything clicks for u on that 1 day. I believe that’s what the GA game was for stroud.

the reality is that 1 performance from CJ is what Bryce does on the regular. Anticipation, poise, create out of structure etc…

as far as Levis, no, I don’t believe for a sec after watching film of both yrs that he could replicate what Bryce did at Bama this yr. He makes really poor decisions & his football IQ is nowhere close to Bryce.

As far as injury & kyler Murray, someone answered u on the nature of kyler’s injuries. They weren’t related to size since they were non contact injuries. The only “small” injury prone QB is Tua.

The more I see about Levis the more I like. There's not a single QB aside from Stroud who doesn't come with one big question mark.

Levis: decision-making
Young: size
Richardson: accuracy
Hooker: durability

It's why the draft is a crapshoot.

CJ has huge questions marks. B4 the GA game, some thought he was falling outside of top 10 because of these questions.

lack of mobility.

lack of out of structure play making ability.

He answered every question on that 1 game which was his best performance of 2 yrs against the best competition.

so the question is, can he do that all the time? Why didn’t it do it in other games Whr he struggled?

Michigan (twice)

Iowa

Maryland

The man has some wheels on him!

Also resign Bozeman and get Levis/AR behind him for a QB sneak on 4th and 1 and it's an almost certain 1st down.

The Philly QB sneak is why I keep coming back to Levis and Richardson for Indy. Can Steichen really quit something that effective?

Bryce couldn’t touch the season Mac Jones had at Bama but who is a better pro prospect? One was mid first round and the other might be the top pick in the draft. Jones was so efficient he had a Tua/Burrow type year. I think he set the record.

Stop being a stats guy and watch the games. You know nothing about Florida football or the situation the team performed under this past season. Our “third string” was to compete with Richardson for the e starting job. He was a 4+ star recruit from OSU but he got hurt early on before the season started. If Richardson went down long term he was going to start. The fear of having no depth behind Richardson while Miller healed is what caused us to stop running Richardson. We couldn’t risk both of them being hurt.

The bowl game was his chance to show he can be the man next year and we don’t need to hit the portal for a QB. We played so poorly on offense we got bood for kicking a field goal to end the game. He played so poorly we hit the transfer portal for a guy who had worse stats than Richardson this year in a much easier conference.

Don’t be a stats guy. Watch the games. And it’s clear from how you keep talking about Florida that you haven’t watched the games.

What does Mac Jones have to with this? I said next year, do you want me to compare Kyle Trask numbers to Richardson. Emory Jones numbers are basically identical to Richardson and he’s on his third team lol. Everyone and their mother knows Richardson was a terrible passer and that the next UF QB will be better than him, that’s exactly why you keep trying to change subjects.

Stop lying, Kitna was the back up and was getting the majority of second team snaps Miller probably didn’t get a first team rep until 2 weeks before the meaningless bowl game in which a bunch of starters sat out.

Stop being a homer Richardson and Levis we’re both mediocre college QBs who team will likely get better with them gone.

Here's the analysis Kaye is referencing...

Levis is an inconsistent player on tape, but he possesses ideal size, arm strength and athleticism. He is a power thrower, capable of fitting the ball into tight windows at the second and third levels. However, he needs to get more consistent underneath. He has bad misses, especially when throwing to the left. He tends to close off his front side, which severely impacts his ball placement. I admire his toughness to stand firm in the pocket, but his lack of awareness leads to him taking some monster hits, spawning ball-security issues. He moved around much better in 2021, showing quickness and power as a runner. This past fall, due to his own injuries and a lesser supporting cast, he wasn't as effective. Overall, Levis is gifted, but has some bad habits he needs to clean up in order to be a reliable NFL starter.

...

Kaye has stated several times that Levis is somebody the Panthers like a lot.

The offense Kentucky runs is hardly "Pro style". I guess it's more "Pro Style" than most but it isn't a Pro Style offense.

The 2022 and 2021 offenses weren't the same scheme.

Their 2021 offense was run by Sean McVay assistant Liam Coen. Coen returned to the Rams last season but now he's back in Kentucky.

That day in the zone doesn't usually happen in a huge game against the best team in the country.

It does. Cony Ealy played his best game in the superbowl. Would have been MVP had we won.
CJ had 1 month to prepare for 1 opponent. Don’t get me wrong, he answered all questions we had for 2 yrs on that game. But that’s also my issue. We had consistent questions with mobility, lack of creation out of structure for 2 yrs, couldn’t handle pressure. How do we know that the GA game was not a fluke?

Some QBs can get hot for 1 game. Some for even a stretch (Nick foles) but can they consistently do it? I don’t think CJ can, but if we draft him, I’ll hope I’m wrong.

    • So I'm just wondering how many of us would be offended if the Salvation Army bell ringer at Christmas didn't say , "Thank you" for the dime they manage to toss in the bucket. Or better yet, how would we feel if an onlooker who saw us donate looked us up and down with contempt and said, "That's all?" when we put a whole dollar in the bucket...while having a PS5 and TV in our shopping cart. That's the equivalent of griping about Tepper on this. Yeah he's got way more and could donate a whole country's GDP and not miss it. He didn't this time and if we're honest, the same people griping now would gripe then too just because.
