Well, if Stroud sucks, which he probably won't, we are screwed for at least 6 years. We also now get to draft a number one QB with Terrace Marshall amd Shi Smith as our top receivers which means we hopefully go out and draft Mimms or Dell.

Which means we neglect our defense which is transitioning to a 3-4.

I would love to love this but man, that's a lot to give up for a team who isn't particularly close to a Super Bowl, and now we don't have a 1st pick next year either.

Trading up in the Top 10 for a QB hasn't worked in probably 15 years and we are bereft of any talent on offense outside of the offensive line. Who wasn't particularly good at pass blocking last year.

So we either have to hit in free agency, which, unless you're just getting retread veterans, is usually more expensive than the value you receive in return.

Stroud seems a bit like Patrick Mahomes to me, in a lot of ways. His size, his movement, his arm strength and off platform throws, his demeanor, etc. But if we traded up for Levis, with everything else we are missing, it's going to be a shitshow. That's some Trubisky or Josh Rosen level dumbassery.

I hope Fitterer has a plan because we have now created yet another hole by trading Moore. Plus, if we suck next year, the Bears get a very high pick again while they are slowly building into what could be a juggernaut if they hit in the draft. And they are in the NFC.

So I don't love it. I'd have rather traded down and filled out the talent base of the team, then sucked for Maye or Caleb Williams. But hey, I'm not Tepper who is only in this for the money.

Put me down as skeptical that this works out the way we want. Too much given up on a team with too many holes. If Stroud turns out to be a Mahomes type, it could work as the Chiefs just won a Super Bowl playing 9 rookies. But, if not, I just hope it doesn't take until Strouds 2nd contract for us to be able to get competitive.

Indeed they are 😃

Exciting right. Stroud, Terrace Marshall, Shi Smith, Chubba Hubbard, and the 24th rated pass blocking offensive line...

Little cap space, one second round pick..

Long-term, I get it. But we also don't have a 1st to go get Marvin Harrison in 2024.

All valid points but what’s the alternative? Hope someone falls to 9? Roll with Darnold? Sign Rogers for $50 mill?

All the options suck in some way.

    • You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.
    • TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."
    • DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
