Will they go to commercial during our pick is the real questioned that needs to be answered.

hahaha now that would be some next level trolling if they did even when we pick #1 overall

Yeah, I'm anxiously awaiting what we do at WR. Because right now we might have the worst WR corps in the NFL on paper. That's not exactly setting up your highly drafted rookie QB for success.

They will make some moves but I wouldn't expect us to have a true #1 until next year when we have more cap room

Cam Newton would have been beloved if he played for Cowboys

Steve Smith would have been considered a top 5 WR of all time and a HOF if he played for the 49ers or Chiefs

Luke Kuechly would be considered one of the best middle LBs of all time if he had played for Steelers or the Ravens

DJ Moore was never even talked about until this trade, suddenly the Bears got themselves a top 5 WR.  LOL

There are exceptions to this, but of course, the pundits are mostly lazy and only research their talking points for the big market teams.  The lack of intelligent analysis and insights are shocking.

Panthers didn't get fleeced in the trade, if anything they came out slightly ahead in terms of value analysis.  But all that anyone talks about is how smart their GM is, the same GM who traded a 2nd rounder for Chase Claypool, LMAO.

The only thing I disagree with in this post is the notion that a lack of intelligent insight and analysis by national pundits is shocking.

If you've been paying attention over time, and NAS I'm pretty sure you have, it's not shocking.

It's expected.

I don't really care about a "true #1". Seems like according to most Panthers fans there's always only a handful of true number ones in the league and everyone else is just a "good #2". A "true #1" is a borderline mythical creature according to Pantherdom.

Most people only know this team through fantasy football and DJ being our only above average WR got fed well

Last year people hated him he was giving them an average of 8 pts per game.  Terrible production for a WR1.  He was a FLEX option at best.

I really wants us to go after Higgins.  I'd trade for him this year if it were possible.

You're right, and normally I wouldn't care if it wasn't always quoted on this board by naive and gullible fans as some sort of gospel.

Well, the expectation is to always try to improve and strengthen your position(s).  But realistic expectations and context should always be a part of that calculation in my opinion. We don't have another first this year or next, so I think that the wise man takes that into account. Long term, I'd like us to replace DJ with a better player, but short term we may not be able to do that---may not be able to do that. What we should be able to do in my estimation is to improve the room, notwithstanding the loss of DJ. There are receivers in FA that can help us to that end (even another DJ). We will also have choices day two in the draft.

I'm not "happy" about losing Moore, but I certainly don't think it's the end of the world by any stretch of the imagination. New QB, new receivers, new offensive- minded HC: that's not a reason to be generally upset in my opinion.

Moore can be replaced the issue isn't just that it's also getting an even better player we just raised our own bar by discarding him. Now the stakes are even higher for Fitt. That's on him.

Steve and Luke get the minimal credits, they can't be ignored completely, but you're delusional if you don't think they would have been put on much higher pedestal if they played in bigger markets

I remember having a conversation about football after church and brought up Steve Smith. Not one person even knew who he was. This was in 2007 or 2008 when he was arguably the best WR in the NFL.

I’m honestly shocked that people know who DJ moore is. This is so damn true, as soon as he’s traded “omg bears have their all time best wr ever and he’s only 25!!’xbcnxnx”

Exactly DJ suddenly got a lot better after we traded him.  It’s interesting
