regarding Hopkins... Only 8 Mil?!? LET'S GO GET HIS ASS - From Bleacher Report:

Hopkins has a no-trade clause in his contract and is set to carry a $30.8 million cap hit in 2023. That cap hit will be reduced to $8.2 million after Arizona takes on the $22.6 million in dead money remaining on his deal—but he won't be a fit for every team. He'll have to sign off on any trade, and teams will either need to have the necessary cap space or be willing to negotiate a new long-term deal.

I thought I read that his no trade clause was void because of the PED thing.

Draft is starting to look more open for us now. I doubt we will need to reach for anything. That’s what you want.

Offensive weapons…I mean Hurst is ok but he doesn’t change that or even close. This franchise will doom our new QB if they don’t get him a WR. It’s going to be bad, really bad.

That’s said it’s really the only major need with oline depth and LB next. I wouldn’t be mad if Fit moved up back into the first for someone. Even then we need vets.

Cut or trade Ian Thomas would save $3M, which would probably cover the cost of this signing.

No, it wouldn't.  Thomas is 5 million in dead cap.  We only net about 1.5 million by getting rid of him.  Next offseason, it looks better with only 1.5 million of dead cap against a 7 million cap number.

At the end of the day, the question to ask is are we better than last year.

Won't know that for sure until the game start being played, but for now I'd say we have a good chance of it being "yes".

Skill position-wise, we aren’t close to where we started last year. CMC and DJ are gone and we have Hurst. Rookie QB is the only way we improve on that because there are no FAs available to get us better than CMC and DJ at the skill positions. I’m hopeful the rookie is a stud, we need to catch a break.

Stroud, Foreman and Hurst >>> Baker/Darnold, CMC and Moore

Yes, it would. His base salary is $3.2M this year. His roster bonus is guaranteed so we pay that regardless. Depending on if you 6/1 him, that money could go across this year and next but the total cap savings is that salary this year. If you keep him on the team this year, that base salary paid comes out of the cap. Releasing him means it never hits the cap regardless of what type of release due to rollover.

I’m assuming no way we keep him in 2024 as well.

You might want to read it again. Skill positions are the guys around the QB.

CMC and DJ>>>>>>>>Foreman and Hurst

I said the rookie QB is the only way we improve. I hope the rookie we pick does make that much of an improvement.

No, I got it. I’m just saying our skill positions with the new QB will be better than those more talented guys we had with the old QBs. Not to mention the impact of coaching

Let’s hope. Tired of being let down for 5 years. Been a complete suck fest after realizing our “guy” was done in by injury.

We literally started winning a bunch of games when we traded CMC, that tells you all you need to know about the RB position, as much as I love CMC and wanted to keep him

DJ Moore isn't an elite player, his production can be replaced. He's an above average possession receiver. He's not in that tier of Chase/Jefferson/Tyreek/Steve Smith that take over games. He's Jarvis Landry.

    • Everybody made too much of that. The CBA and the 17 game schedule is what kills the cohesion we see in teams across the league in the opening games.  You decide, look at your depth and make informed decisions there or you get a an extra quarter or whatever two quarters with your ones.  Teams that are set don’t have those openings as much down the roster to evaluate but that ain’t everybody. It is quandary. I think they need that 4th preseason game back. But as I said, I don’t lay that as the excuse for Bryce to come out looking like he does to start seasons. He has an entire camp.
    • Hey I said the 1pm west coast team, I said the up down up down and we were due for the up week.  You can’t know what is going to happen. There was a guy that detailed why the league would engineer a Panthers win to bring LA Rams back to the pack in conference standings.  Who really knows, and how much real belief do you have when citing these things? I generally have as much as my superstition allows. It rarely rises to an emotional experience. Usually it is more analytical. In terms of interest. When crazy poo happens and we win a game like today I for sure enjoy it.  I mean you have to think about it, how many times do you connect 2 4th and short situations for TDs? Who does that? That is like the most embarrassing thing for the Rams’ defense lol. That never happens and should never happen.  Expecting it to happen might not be a good plan. But it was pretty great
    • The defense has mostly stuck to the "break slowly" and get a turnover or two still zero pass rush
