I am genuinely perplexed by the Huddle's obsession with Young's size but they pine after a 5-9, 170 lb WR that isn't an elite athlete.

Are WR's immune from punishment in the NFL?

Downs' durability at the NFL level definitely concerns me but we wouldn't be giving up multiple 1sts, multiple 2nds, and DJ Moore to get him so it's a bit of a stretch to draw that equivalency.

I can help some here, but Id dont want any small tiny players anywhere, but if they get the job done dont care.

WRs can step out-bounds and most times when they get hit/tackled its by a similar 6' 200' player. QBs get rocked standing still by 6'5 285 rock'd up marble players. Plus WR have the most two hands touched while they caught a pass on the ground. All the new rage is the QB sneak, the QB has to be able to survive. Recently more bigger, stronger, and faster players are in the league. Recent history shows its a up-mountain climb for those not 6' and 200+ LBs.....just look at the dating apps for more proof....

Also, to be clear, I don't find Downs size concerning nor do I find Young's. If Downs was a DB, I might have an issue with it. If Young was a LB, I would have an issue with it.

As long as you are good at what you do, you can be effective in the NFL.

Agreed. The fact that he’s not really a big burner, kinda makes me say no thanks. Would rather have Hyatt runnin posts all game to open up the middle.

Im not a twatter pro by any means, but the most recent update I seen had Chark in detroit working out.......that made many lions fans believe hes staying...

One piece of advice to one DJ Chark in regards to the Carolina Panthers-

I believe finessererer will pull the offer soon and use the funds on an edge or a different WR. Its the best youre going to get and better than a silly one year one with the lions.....besides Charlotte >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> detroit

Interesting, it’s possible he lives there and is just working out in his hometown?

After hearing Fitts say that we are still looking for a "vertical speed guy", Chark and Hardman are the only two that fit the bill worth a WR2 spot. The rest are JAGs and I have to assume they aren't referring to Shi or Laviska.

Chark is the bigger body with speed and closer potential to a WR1....though he's still a fringe guy and more of a high-end WR2.

I think we end up with Hardman, who's only 25 and then get a guy like Tillman, Perry or Mingo in the draft to find our X.

Yeah, my issues with Downs are the lack of elite athleticism for a slot guy and the fact that he isn't an elite hands or route runner.

So, in some ways he seems like a guy without a clear path to being an impact player. Somewhat of a project/developmental.

Personally, he and his agent are just playing the game.

Seems like hes trying to squeeze more by pitting Carolina and their 3 year deal vs detroit and their one year deal. With the lions he re-enters the market, but that only works if he has a great year. Carolina needs to spread out he cap hit and not looking for someone to use them.

Deal is like 99% of the contracts are one year deals, if he signed with panthers for like 3 years at 30 million, then had a 10 TDs 1,500 yards.......hed want some more cash. But if he was terrible and missed 3/4 of the games, panthers would cut him right after the SB...

I also bet the agent told Chark he would be getting a much bigger offer form a few teams and thats not happened either. The big money time period is over.

Real UNC fan here and downs is not near my 39 wish list.

Same

I think we'd be better off addressing WR in free agency and then looking WR next year.  I also think we have 3 WRs who need time to develop to see what we have (TMJ, Shenault, and Smith--maybe even the two from the PS_)

    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
    • Burns at 5-6 seems....a little aggressive.
