Yeah. I was expecting the video to just be him a lil open just for validation because we signed him, but no. He was open A LOT and Kirk just didn't look his way or threw it late to him. His route running is clearly STILL there and still elite.

To be fair, that's been his role his entire career from when he was second fiddle to Diggs so I don't think there's a misassumption he's coming in as this top-end WR1.  He's a really solid receiver with a few years left in the tank.

I would much prefer pairing veteran WRs with a young qb then an aging expensive vet qb with young wrs.

Sure, his best days are likely behind him, but he certainly does not appear to be done just yet.

Could very well still have a bit of gas in the tank, and hopefully the Panthers use it to their advantage. At the least, his veteran presence and red zone production is a positive add to a young WR room, and a great swiss army knife for a rookie QB to utilize.

I'm 31, I don't feel I've fallen off physically from when I was 21. Sure it happens but the advanced metrics don't support the idea that Theilen has dropped off at all. Some guys have longer longevity than others and it looks like we got our Ricky Proehl. Now we just need a Steve Smith.

The cliff happened for me around 34.  It's small things for a few years and then you're like, oh sh*t why does my back hurt randomly?

Separation aside, they don’t need Thielen to stretch the field. If he can get separation for quick passing situations, he’s going to be an huge asset as a sure handed veteran. And unless they go into the season with the WR group they have, he’s not going to play every snap. He’s going to play on third downs and in the red zone. He’s still a major asset there.

Let's be real, every receiver position will be used to stretch the field vertically, otherwise safeties and linebackers can squat on certain positions. I think Thielen will be used primarily as a short-space guy with the ability to take a wheel or bubble the distance. 

I really, really like the idea of drafting Mims (Oklahoma) and Will Mallory (TE - Miami, 5th round) to throw in there with Sanders, Hubbard, Terrace Marshall, Thielen, and Hurst. Our offense will have some real DAWGS to go along with a guy who has plenty of playing experience that should transition seamlessly.

I thought I hit a cliff at 34 but I was just drinking too much and not eating well. Amazing what cutting out alcohol, a good diet, and exercise can do

Bingo also the things he should and probably will teach to TMJ and LS might elevate each game which is a major benefit to us. I could only imagine LS catching the ball downfield.
