Is it possible that the TIMING of this presser was to send a message to those with offers on the table that negotiations are over?  In other words, "why now?"

Teams are doing post free agency press conferences.

If they need communicate with other teams they wouldn't go through the press.

Not mad at Luvu being an option to move inside and outside at LB. Most were assuming he'd be starting on the edge but he's proven to be really good in the middle of the field and reading run plays especially.

I'm sure they were desperate to answer questions about whether Young is too small to play QB for Reich.

They are not communicating with other teams--they are communicating with unsigned free agents.

They would do that that through agents. 

This is normal free agency press conference so media can ask dumb questions for headlines

I never said it was the only method of communication.  I do think teams use the media to send messages and players use the media to reply--(See Rodgers, Aaron and Murphy, Mark).

Coach Campbell even said that he was stubborn and stayed in nickel bc he thought it would eventually work. 

 

Defenses have been playing more nickle than base going on a decade now. Now it's to where it's nickle, dime, base with base getting less than 20%. Plenty of articles about this
