Just thinking about edge players in the new 3/4 we’re transitioning to and the different type of edge rushers that could be available to us..

What are we looking for more of a power guy or speed guy??

It comes down to both being tweeners. Either smaller DE who played more in a 4/3 or bigger LBer type..

Heres a few options for both body type.. Smaller DE type power guys..

Tuli Tuppy 6’3 266lb

Felix Uzomah 6’4 254

Ande Andbowere  6’1 282

Keyon White 6’5 280

Zac Harrison

6’5 274

I think Isaiah McGuire is being severely underrated.

He's got the frame and build to be an all-around edge defender.

6'4 268, 4.76 40, has really good potential at run-d but just needs to get coached up.  Has a great blend of traits and a relentless motor.  He always seems to be pushing back the defender.  Strong burst and knockbacks.  Just quick at the first move.  Needs to work on his counters and bend but I think he'd be a really nice 4th round option.

Ojulari or McDonald IV.  We need the pass rusher.

I can say that I was at my nephew's drum/band concert at his high school in Ohio just before Thanksgiving (Orange high School in Lewis Center) and Zach Harrison appeared.  He went there-and the school is 20 minutes from the OSU campus.  He seems to be a great guy.  I spoke to him for just a second.  He said the drums were so good at his high school games that half the crowd was there to see them.  He said that he supports them because they spent 3 years supporting him, and his friends have some younger siblings in the band.  He was a specimen, by the way.  I asked my brother in law (who was with me) about him--he said that he lacks the dominating pass rush the Buckeyes have had in the past, but he is improving and he is solid.  I compare him to YGM.  Not a good fit here, imo

Give me Keion White or Ande Andbowere.  They can play 3-4 DE which is arguably as big a need.
we signed the guy from Denver, but he is more of 3-tech Vs a 5i in the scheme which is the same as Brown.  Deshawn Williams was essentially a run stop specialist and never was a threat as a pass rusher out there in Denver.  White or Andbowere provides that interior pressure at the 5i (role you see JJ Watt and Calais Campbell play) where the QB can’t step up into the pocket.   You could have 2 elite OLBs, but if the QB can step up 1-2 steps into the pocket.  Those Edge guys just come up with near misses like we’ve seen with Burns.

Lots of options at DL and Edge.

Y'all have touched on a few. Guys I have not heard mentioned much is a guy named Ya ya.  Had a nice combine. I like Barno alot to thrive in a 3-4.  Him and Burns is gonna be a fast aggressive pass rush. We could add a guy like YAYA to the rotation. His combine was good but I don't think he moved out of reach.  Mike Morris out of Michigan is a bruiser who could get reps at DE. That 39th pick is gonna be prime time for edge or DE I think. I'm looking forward to seeing who Envero likes.  I'm hoping to see Jack Campbell's name called by us too.  Jack and Shaq in the middle would be pretty awesome. I think Luvu could play inside or outside as a situational Blitzer.  I also have high hopes for Barno that speed is on par with Will McDonald.  I like Derrick Hall to but he also reminds me someone we already have on the roster. He reminds me of Haynes.  So I don't want guys too comparable to who we already got. Someone unique with traits we might be missing is the goal.

    • Varying degrees all around but it starts at the top. That is where the buck stops. It has been 8 years of stupid, long before Morgan came back. Or Tillis was hired. Made it to the top of stupid mountain in 2023. Stayed in stupid limbo for a while, now we are prepping to scale the next mountain. In this case, I like those guys’ roster building better than what we have had so I am okay with them as our current pawns in the game of Bryce.
    • Don't let me gas him up too much, but I hear this and that...... I seen a wide body man with a quick burst, that's able to shed blocks and if extends his long arms its over. He tore up the OL in the senior, you seen about 10 plays and the dog walking OLman. There's other plays of him doing the same, just have to deal with fetus talking over the plays. Plus there's this-  https://x.com/PFF_College/status/2018385471068332410?lang=en     I hope he's ready, cause Id like to see him starting and doing his thang with dbrown, nic, and Phillips.
    • I mean there is relevance to that. But I think much of it has to do with the fact that he is clearly likeable. But does that translate to a coach taking his position to the next level like those that have had staying power for many years like Spoelstra? And not for nothing but does how much someone is liked even matter? Across leagues with the Panthers Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney were universally well liked by players. Dave Canales is very well liked. I say you are what your record says. And the record says you got your ass handed to you by a fellow expansion team in the Magic in a game that was over at halftime and that same team went toe to toe with our nemesis who has been handing us L's for over a year now. And if Bam doesn't get his leg swept by LaMelo do we even get past the Heat? Again. It just all boils down to personal standards. I think newer and younger fans will love this. I just want to actually win a real playoff game fam 🤷‍♂️
