Cam didn't need much around him at the NFL level either. Cam is a different breed.

Our record during the Newton years would suggest otherwise.

Every quarterback needs a strong supporting cast. Newton was no exception. Neither is Richardson.

I don't know if you throw dice with the #1 pick and hope it rolls your way.

I don’t believe it would be rolling the dice in him: this is just one example, but he has all the traits to be elite. His situation in Florida wasn’t the best, with our coaching staff, this kid will be special. Again, I dont think we take him, but there is a solid argument to. Great twitter thread on how good he can/will be at the pro level.

One throw in a year full of bad ones does not make him ready. Okay, he did there, but can he do it consistently, that's what matters.

Will Levis threw a lot of screens from what I watched. I don't know if someone wants to find their passing charts for last year, but I would be Will's depth of through was much shorter. Also, Will Levis has played for multiple years in the college. In his first two years he had a 59% and 60% completion percentage, and then improved.

Something I came across on twitter (@Statsowar)

My question is why are you comparing him to Cam?

Idk what you want from me, you aren’t reading my posts. Yes, Cam is a different breed, that is the whole point. We are drafting #1 overall, not #9, we should be looking for a different breed type guy. Young has “it”, Stroud has been so good he’s hard to overlook. I don’t think Richardson has “it”, or at least he hasn’t shown it if he does, he’s got more questions, and WAY worse tape.

That thread wasn’t just one throw, he cites and shows other examples. Dan Orlovsky has done the same thing on his twitter. Every qb has bad throws, ARs get magnified.

Isn't this coaching staff, with their centuries of experience, the right staff to develop Richardson?

It doesn't sound like they are interested in drafting someone they can't start right away. They are priming this team to win now.

If they draft him, the goal will be to start him day 1. Dalton is there in case he's not ready, but I think they won't be wanting to let him sit a year. They'd come up with an offense built around what he can and can't do right now and develop him as they go, adding things to the offense as he progresses.

I never said Richardson "has it".

Im saying he has the most potential of all these QB's.

Bryce has it, but he also might be a gamble because of his size and ability to stay healthy long term.

Stroud is who I like, but he also might be the least dynamic QB in the draft.

So are you comparing Stroud/Bryce to Cam also?

The key is what you can do consistently.

Brett Favre was a guy who could throw a pass that made you go "how the hell did he do that" then follow it up with a pass that made you go "why the hell did he do that".

Tom Brady? Certainly not as exciting a player as Favre, but amazingly consistent.

Gunslingers are certainly more fun to watch, but technicians tend to win more games.

A guy with consistent ball placement like Stroud fits the NFL mold much better.

    • Dude you have no idea what you're talking about. Best place to live?  LMAO... that's your criteria...  Charlotte gets put all over those lists too... come on man... and those lists have zero to do with sports. I'm done after this bc I'm punching down intellectually here... The Panthers have been bad for 6 years now. You are obviously young and not overly educated based off the "dunks" you're putting out there that certainly are, so let me educate you today on the Panthers. The Panthers sold out for well over a decade straight. BOA has been as good an environment as there is when the team is good.  Fan support for the Panthers has been incredible when the team has even remotely reciprocated. The idea that Charlotte doesn't support the Panthers is utter BS. People in Raleigh have the biggest little brother syndrome of all time... Nobody outside of the Triangle cares about any of your "vaunted" sports team outside of Duke-UNC in basketball on a national scale. Sure, the Canes are great. But nationally, the WWE dwarfs the NHL in ratings. More people care about Cody Rhodes than Sebastian Aho... or anyone else in the NHL for that matter... I doubt less than 5% of anyone in this state outside of Raleigh even knows who that is... that's a knock on Aho who is a great player, it's just the NHL barely makes a ripple in the overall hierarchy of American sports. It's not in the same universe as the NFL or NBA no matter how badly you want to tell yourself otherwise. Raleigh is not a big-time sports city, no matter how much you want to scream into the abyss about it. Neither is Charlotte. But no one here is making such a nonsense argument... LOL it's good to be young and to be ignorant enough to be confidently wrong... WTF are you even on this board though since Charlotte is so beneath you? There is an actual discussion board on this very site for Raleigh sports since they are so superior...  Maybe it's bc I'm watching Idiocracy with my son, but your timing is perfect, my man... The dumbest among us have become the most confidence in their ignorance... God Bless America!!
    • You do know the biggest military base in the US is located just an hour from Raleigh in Fort Bragg right? Military families are family oriented. A hour drive to games is nothing compared to traveling 3 hours to Charlotte.   Cmon man there is nothing happening in Western Carolina other than Charlotte. I only go west for outdoor activities and some nature/mountain views.
    • Okay, who is coming. And how hard is it going to be to get tickets? I’m currently living in Germany a couple hours north of Munich. Happy to help facilitate a cheaper experience for help getting tickets lol.
