After having the second-best odds to be the No. 1 overall pick after the NFL combine, Ohio State's C.J. Stroud is the betting favorite to be drafted by the Carolina Panthers. After dominating the NFL combine with his physical traits and tools, all anyone could talk about was Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson.4 days ago

NFL draft odds: Ohio State's C.J. Stroud commanding favorite to be No. 1 ...

We still have a few weeks and the odds could be in favor of Stroud but time will tell.

2 weeks is not a long time. I think they have their mind made up by now. If we taking this down to the last minute that doesn't make sense.

We obviously know who we wanted the moment we traded for the #1 pick.

Going off the rumors im thinking Bryce Young was there guy all along. Just way to many connections from Frank to the Teppers. I could be wrong but if im betting my money I think the pick is Young imo.

Yes it does make sense...

No they hadn't made a decision before they traded up...

No they didn't trade up with just one guy in mind...

It might wind up being Young but that decision isn't made yet...

Actually reading what's been written by people with access to the team would greatly assist you in not getting so many things wrong.

Teams never lie leading up to the draft. Fact.

They are in the midst of visits. Why have them if they don't influence your decisions

Tepper and his analytics focus is a decent point. The analytics for NFL QB's Bryce Young's size in the modern NFL comes back "Error: Cannot Divide By Zero".

Respectfully what good have analytics done other than making us San Francisco’s training squad

How does ANYBODY think Young will survive in the NFL?

Someone his size has a very very uphill battle. It hasn't been done, yet THIS is the guy to do it?! There IS no comp yet.

He's a scrambler, a time buyer without afterburners.

If Young at least ran a 4.3 I could say "escapability" if he gets cornered. He doesn't have elite speed to get away.

Y'all want to see this man get killed. Look at Tua, these guys won't even be trying to hurt him but the laws of physics cannot be ignored without great peril.

Stop the madness.

Well. We hope Will Levis isn't being considered.

And if Young had the lead as the best undisputed prospect of his class and generational QB level hype confirmed Chicago wouldn't have budged in any trade.

The consensus says the gap between the top 3 isn’t as wide as others suggest 🤷‍♂️

About the visits: They are going to Carowinds on their visit so they did not want Bryce slowing things down.  Nothing to see here.

First, Levis is not being considered by the Panthers. Second, are you arguing that we moved up to first overall pick so we could pick someone who was almost as good as Young without the resume?

Loved the animation though--I laughed.

There were a lot of reports that NFL teams were a lot higher on Levis than fans. He very well could be in contention to be the Panthers' pick especially since there's not been a peep about him and the team since those early rumors that Tepper liked him.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
