I look at it like this...

If they traded up for the #1 pick they obviously had a specific QB they really wanted. You just don't trade to the top and not be certain who your QB is.

I think it's becoming more clear by the day that Bryce Young will be our QB.

You look at it wrong.

Yes you do...and yes we did.

And again, that decision isn't made.

In all my years I never could have believed there would ever be a QB smaller than me playing in the NFL. And I have to listen to keyboard warriors screaming for him to QB my team.

I mean, I actually thought it was a joke when ppl started talking up Young. No way ppl could seriously think this kid can handle the rigors of the QB position. He is the new poster boy for Not For Long.

We need one of those "Must be this tall to play QB in the NFL" signs.

I just cant imagine a scenario where we trade up to #1 to draft, literally the smallest QB in NFL history. Just look at Lamar, Tua, and Kyler. None of them can stay healthy. All 3 are amazing QBs, but at the end of the day, if your missing 6 games per season how valuable are you, really? I think young will probably be better than all 3 of them. He will also probably suffer the same issues as them. Either way, if we pick him, I'm on board and he immediately becomes my guy. I just think CJ is the best pick, but I'm no scout or GM.

You DO realize Stroud weighs less and has a thinner frame than Tua right?

And it’s common sense.

you don’t move all that you did and skip on the top QB on your board unless they offer some crazy offer including pick 12 this year.

at the same time.

you’d have to be silly if you think they’ll offer that to move up from 2 to 1

Please understand, I am no advocating here.  And I don't know who we are favoring, although it seems we are somewhat split internally at this time.

Houston may not feel the same.  They may see Young as the clear #1 for their vision and don't want anything to do with Stroud.  If they feel this way - I could see them making an offer in a week or two.  In fact, I'd be surprised if they didn't.  They could try to lowball us with a 3rd or something, who knows.  But if they do not make any offer, then they are either sure we're taking Stroud or don't care either way (or they are incompetent).

But if Houston calls and offers me enough to get me comfortable with either guy, I could see us pulling the trigger and moving back a spot.

And that’s the thing.

Its about as known now that Houston is as interested in Stroud at 2 as we are Levis at 1.  They have their eyes on Bryce if it’s a QB.  If they call and seem willing again.  That means that there’s a strong chance We take Stroud regardless at 1.   Also if we wanted Bryce, it would take a LOT to get us to move off the top QB on our board after what we gave up to get there.  And what they’d have to offer, the reality is, they won’t give that much to move 1 spot to 1.

I apologize for my douchey posts last night in some of these Bryce and CJ threads. Drinking bourbon and watching the hurricanes fumble the metro division away to the Devils doesn’t mix well and that frustration spilled out onto this board. I’ll truly be happy with either but prefer Bryce.

    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
    • When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
