We draft Young....

only to regret it by week 6 as Stroud starts to show signs of being elite while Young struggles.

I’ll void the rookie year but if this is the story next year, and certainly the year after, the entire building needs to be cleaned out and Tepper needs to hire professionals asap.

Personally, I think they both do well. I am more curious about Richardson.

1st - Bryce Young (QB) - I think we risk the size concerns and bet on his talent of being the best QB in the draft.

2nd - Jack Campbell (LB) - Fills a need at linebacker, plus useful with our new D.C putting him in a position to succeed.

3rd- Siaki Ika (DT) - added meat as we use him as our centerpiece NT. Being we are transferring to a 3-4, hopefully he falls and we land him late in the third.

4th - Zack Kuntz (TE) - I think Hayden Hurst is gonna ball in our system. This pick is about his potential as a pass catching threat and late gem. He competes for TE2 in training camp.

I'm so sick of this argument

As The Athletic's article today points out, since 2000 there have been 368 QB's who have played in the league, only 9 of them have been under 6 feet.  Yes, as I've said it's not about his height, but his frame/weight/bulk, but that number would be even smaller if looking for players of Young's size.

To make any significant revelation based on a sample size like that, it's just flat out ignorant and is only used by teams publicly as a way to help sell it to their fan base.

Nobody arguing against Young due to his size is saying bigger QB's are guaranteed to stay healthier, but it's just common sense to say a 5'10" 190 lbs QB has a higher probability to get injured than someone 6'2" and 215 lbs.  Yes, anyone could get hurt on any given play, but if you put those two sized QB's up for comparison and you had to pick one or the other as to who is more likely to get injured, you'd have to be fooling yourself to say there isn't even a slightly better chance of the smaller player being injured more often than the bigger player there.

No, there are no guarantees, but the people asking for past examples/proof of smaller QB's being more injury prone, and leaning on a sample size of 9 out of 368, is just completely asinine in itself.

Hell, even if all 9 of those guys kept getting hurt and thus helping my argument, I'd still say it's far too small of a sample size to be used in these discussions.

The statistic stating 368 quarterbacks in the NFL since 2000…only 9 under 6 feet can say different things to different people. It tells me that in spite the fact the majority of quarterbacks were over 6 feet tall most did not have the skill set needed to have a long career.

What makes everybody think that Bryce Young is the pic? The Panthers in no way shape or form have come out and said this is our guy they’ve answered questions about qbs that’s it. Now the one quarterback that they traded up for possibly his Richardson and they haven’t mention his name since we traded up to the first pick,  now just reading the tea leaves here Coaches might think we have a good bridge quarterback, a young rookie from last year to let Richardson sit and learn and get them ready or we go with Stroud, who will be a game one starter there is no way you trade for pigs in your best wide receiver for 510, 180 pound quarterback who is an outlier It just doesn’t happen. I don’t care how smart he is. He won’t last you don’t bet the franchise on a 5’10 180 pound frame. That being said, I still think the decision has been made between CJ, Stroud and Anthony Richardson the Panthers aren’t falling for the fake test scores put out on Stroud.

If the Panthers announced the pick, it would be stupid.  There are many signs that suggest he is the pick, based on those comments.

But I appreciate the fact that you bring up some points/possibilities that are not being considered because they Bryce Blinders have been on for a while.

Good post.

Bryce young will be a bust he is not elite other skills other than his vision and processing. Arm strength is poor he is not fast will be easily caught by defensive linemen in the nfl inaccurate under pressure his biggest downside is he is always looking to extend the play when he doesn’t have too cause he is not a pocket passer with strength to push the ball upfield. He will be chased down at the nfl level. Just look at the lsu and Georgia games the used the same concept the bengals used against the chiefs. Three rushers and a spy and he couldn’t adjust cause he doesn’t have the physical traits or a strong arm

Shorting up the box with Skinner allows Chinn to roam and blitz more. Diaby is so intriguing physically Mauch is a nasty sumbitch and having him shore up the line would be great. Trice is a monster in the outside to pair with Horn. Tucker is a pure running back no frills just runs you down like a bowling ball. Jones is this drafts Cupp lite and we should not pass him up. Byrce is why my SN is BYOB because Bryce Young or Bust!
