Sunny Sunday before the draft

Recommended Posts

We honestly could have taken Levis and I would have convinced myself we've had a great Offseason and this staff is going to get the best out of him.

It's the first time in years I've had a glimpse of optimism or confidence in what is going on in Carolina and I'm going to enjoy it for all its worth. I do prefer Bryce personally but whatever guy we went with I'd have been open minded with just because I trust the guys we have developing our QB.

I cant imagine being this upset over getting a guy so many places have ranked both their #1 QB and a Top 3 prospect. Cant wait for this weekend.

I’m right there with you. This team is on an awesome trajectory currently. I’m going to soak that in. Those being miserable at it presumably will never be happy as a sports fan.

They can draft Jake Haener and I'll be fine unless he flames out. I trust the staff...you know...the group that has been pretty much universally acknowledged as a tremendous NFL staff? I'll trust them until they lose that trust - just like with any other human or group of humans. This isn't that hard.

It’s a beautiful Sunday I sit on the back deck getting ready to grill some shrimp, chicken and veggies. My cat is stretched out in a pocket of sun that’s creeping through the shade. And this week the Panthers start an exciting new chapter and I can’t wait for it.

Now like many still on here, I was in the CJ Stroud camp early on. When I say early on, I mean like week 4 of last season. And I make a ‘don’t overreact’ thread every year on draft day, but this year I’ll make this in its place.

Like I said, I wanted Stroud. But I have maintained that I’m genuinely happy with whatever QB we take because I can see he reasons why for each of them. BY, CJ and AR all have some strong arguments for why they should be the pick. So ultimately his my day (and week) goes is up to me. I can look at each of the positives and get excited for them or I can l completely throw a tantrum and argue that this team is on the verge of making a huge mistake, intentionally ignoring the positives and be completely miserable. Ultimately who we take is out of my control. So do I prefer to get excited about the future of do I prefer to let this ruin my week?

I’m choosing to be positive. In my pursuit of this, I’ve actually come around to preferring BY. Maybe that’s cause I’m a “blind homer” or maybe it’s because I said that aside from my concerns about size, he really does seem to be the best prospect. But I have concerns about each of those guys. And I see the positives to each also.  Ultimately I don’t control the outcome. The only thing I can control is my outlook.

At this point I think pretty much everyone that posts here has a favorite. I do as well. But rather than spamming this board miserably like we’ve all done for the last three seasons, I’m going to choose to be excited regardless of the pick. Because only an absolute idiot refusing to acknowledge that each prospect has very attractive attributes and strong arguments why they should be #1.

I’m going to have grilled chicken and shrimp today. I’ll have a couple beers from Burial. I’ll talk about the draft with my friends and I’ll sneak a shrimp or two under the table for the cat. And rather than be miserable, it’s gonna be a good day for me. It’s going to be a good week. The only thing I can control is what I focus on. The clear positives of who we draft or the the real negatives. I’m going to choose to support whoever we pick and finally get excited about the direction of this team. So far, it’s going great. I recommend it to anyone still raging on this board. You can’t control it either way. So have a beer and let yourself get excited for a bit.

TL;DR The draft is out of our hands. You can choose to be miserable and hate who may end up being our future QB or you can acknowledge that each prospect has reasons why they will be the pick and get excited. It’s really up to you. So how do you prefer to spend your week?

Cheers to you. It’s refreshing to encounter an actual human on a message board.

    • I assume you are quoting my still. If so, I don't know what your argument is since mine was simply showing a play where Bryce scored a TD against the Rams in the playoffs where another poster used a similar still of Herbert's line to defend his poor performance last night. Like I said, Herbert is a better QB but Bryce wins the game last night for the Chargers. It simply is something he does better than Herbert and would play to his strengths. Someone even said earlier Chargers only win 1 or 2 games this year if Bryce was their QB which is so absurdly laughable it wasn't even worth trying to address. I mean this thread is literally called "Bryce Young is the worst QB in Panther's History" so I understand there is no objective arguments to be had here but I found that amusing.
    • I think his knee would make a good reason to switch to guard IF he returns.  Half don't.  Half of those don't last too long.  The strain on a knee (320lb man) vs speed rushers is more substantial.  So I would keep him if I could on a small contract (he will make $17.5 in 2026 fully guaranteed) and think of him as a possible guard for the post Lewis/Hunt era.  Knee injuries in big men are not invitations to invest in them.
    • I'd give anything to go back to a 4-3 but we are so removed from having the pieces for that. All because Tepper wanted to force this 3-4 on all our coaches.
