Well considering the longest throw in NFL history was Baker Mayfield’s 70.5yd Hail Mary that wasn’t even a completion, I’d say it is literally not a thing.

Reportedly, Randall Cunningham once threw it 76 yards in the air in 1993.

That wasn’t during a game. You can find all sorts of reports of guys doing things at pro days, practice, whatever. Baker Mayfield’s 70.5 yard attempt during an actual game was the longest in history. So unless we’re concerned with how far they can throw in shorts with no defense, it’s probably not worth mentioning the unrecorded fables of NFL lore such as Cunningham’s 76 or Mahomes throwing out of Arrowhead stadium or Uncle Rico throwing it over the mountains.

Uncle Rico threw it across the state of Montana. Get yer facts straight.

So why the hell do we need a QB that can throw the ball 70 yards when it's not done by anyone in games?

Cannon for an arm is such an overrated trait. I'll take ball placement and touch over that poo any day. So much more important.

Bryce throws one of the most catchable balls I think i've ever seen.  Kid is money.

That's a lot bigger deal than some know or will admit.

Fans love watching the guy with the rocket arm throw high velocity passes a lot more than receivers enjoy catching them.

Hell, some of Favre's guys ended up with broken fingers

Can we stop this? Bryce flung the ball 55 yards against GA on a sluggo in the conference championship game with zero forward momentum. We keep limiting what Bryce can and can’t do and it’s annoying. He has arm.

if he keeps his 8-1 TD-INT ratio, he can throw passes however he wants

Vastly overrated, but a big deal to the "highlight reel" scouts.

Goofy as it sounds, I've actually had people tell me they'd just as soon watch an exciting loss as a boring win.

Winning is never boring.

What does winning feel like?  Its been like 7ish years since I vaguely remember something to that effect

    • The vast majority of mocks from the past week suggests Sadiq, then Freeling, McNeil-Warren, Cooper Jr   https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/teams/2026/carolina-panthers
    • Yup. Hopefully  Brandon adds some muscle this off-season but he'll probably be resting his shoulder for a while so I doubt it. Miles should probably be replaced but I don't think we find a better 4th option to be honest. So is it better to add depth along side williams and Coby or try to upgrade the 4/5 . I think adding depth will probably be more beneficial than trying to upgrade starters and bank on Brandon and Kons continuing development. I really don't think they are going to make the playoffs unfortunately. I think the big hole they put themselves in has exhausted them. They've been amazing since January 1 but I think it's come at a cost and their legs are gone.
    • The issue is the predictability of it all in a Bryce Young led offense. In 4th down attempts the Jets were at 41 and we were at 40. And we were 4th in conversation %. We were 25th in the league in 3rd down conversion because we faced so many 3rd and longs in part due to playcalling on 1st and 2nd down but more largely due to the limitations that cannot be overcome.  And people want us to spend another 1st rounder on WR as if it is going to magically give Bryce physical talent he will never possess. It's a shame we cut off our own nose just to put ourselves in this frustrating predicament.
