Looks like he does not have good support.  Not what a rookie needs.

Houston was probably the worst situation for a QB to be drafted in.

Horrible team, poor OL, not much in the way of weapons, defensive HC and a nobody OC.

Just for perspective and this game is already boring.

Cam comp % in preseason as a rookie

Game 1 - 42%
Game 2 - 50%
Game 3 - 31%
Game 4-  60% for 25 yards and his first pass TD

and obviously then went on to break almost every passing record for a rookie

The Texans still look like the Texans. Gonna be interesting to see what they do if they're drafting in the top 5 again.

They will pick a defensive player and continue to suck. Poor CJ is on his own trying to develop as a pro qb and be their entire offense.  Kinda like Cam had to do but he's less talented as Cam was.

I saw a couple of shots on twitter, and in one he starred the guy down, in the other he was super later to a hole in the zone.

The big knock on him was being able to process the information on the field.  Did he throw with any touch, timing or anticipation?  CJ has the tools to be a great QB, and I was all for him before we traded up to 1.  I don't want to see him fail (if for no other reason to be a successful OSU QB just so people stop making that argument).  He also seems like a nice kid (like most rookies) so you root for them.

Houston should not have him start if he's not ready.  You'll ruin him.  Look, let Davis Mills start until things slow down for CJ.  In those two shots, he looked like a deer in the headlights.

How is this not the OL he's going to have in regular season? Did they start 2nd stringers?

That's an odd thing to do to your spanking new qb.  I could see putting 1 second stringer on the line to test him with the starters. But to put the entire 2nd string out there for your supposed starting qb seems a bit risky and counterproductive to said qbs development.

Texans about to find out real soon why you need a Oline for a young QB.

Im so thankful we finally built an above average Oline. Bryce definitely has a better supporting cast than Stroud right now.

I’m so dam thankful we have a above average line.

His Oline not doing him any favors.

The line was giving him no time prior to that pick, hope his nerves settle

If you rewatch that interception on YouTube a few times he had time on that pass it was just a bad throw he’s line wasn’t holding up throughout the game but that play specifically was all on him not nitpicking but just thinking you can’t put that on the line it’s on him. He didn’t see the defender plain and simple happens to all qbs especially younger qbs hopefully Bryce sees things much clearer then that.

    • Dave in a presser gassed up Anthony Tyus III and dying to see him on the field.  I mean 3 is all that needed right, and Dan loves etienne. He's one year filling in his body. If brooks is back, toss in chubba, thats 3.
    • After seeing hits in the last two UDFA pools, I do not in this group sorta of a let down after I gassed myself up.  Not like I know of their games, but just expected more. The duke DT only has to beat out hunte (2025 UDFA) or Ray (DL coach's kid) or even Cam Jackson mid 2025 5th.  I thought they would bring in more edges, IOL, TEs, etc...
    • My 2 favorite picks, since you didn't ask? 3. Brazzell II.  A 1000 yard WR with 4.37 speed and checks all the boxes for a Z Wide Receiver.  IN THE THIRD ROUND!!! 5.  Sam Hecht.  I think he will take over as the starter at some point this season and never look back.  IN THE FIFTH ROUND. Runner Up:  2. Hunter:  We were targeting a DT early in this draft because we did very little to replace Robinson in free agency.  Hunter was our guy and he will start. In addition to that, you got a starting tackle that should man one side of the new OL we will build for Bryce's second contract. A starting WR, offensive lineman, defensive lineman and possible Offensive tackle (at some point during this year from this draft will start.  UNREAL. In addition, I don't doubt that Wheatley (5th round) takes the FS job by next year and Lee III is Jackson's replacement in 2027.   Finally, even Kuwatch should be a special teams demon and LB depth.   Last year's draft was so good it was ugly.  This one will turn out to be uglier.  No offense Basbear--this ain't about you.
