alternative: uninstall (first, DELETE ALL DATA & CACHE DATA) and reinstall chrome. see if that helps -

Wipe the system cache (you should do this after every Android update, in general) Turn off the phone Press and hold the Side key and the Volume up button Keep holding the buttons until the phone enters Reboot Mode Use the Volume up/down button to highlight Wipe cache partition Press the Side key to select it Select Yes by pressing the Volume down button to select it Press the Side key again to select it The phone will automatically reset and reboot Be careful when choosing Wipe Cache Partition. If you choose the wrong option on the menu, you can wipe your entire phone. -
