Preseason Game #2 - who impressed/who disappointed

watched the first two drives (will zip through the rest later)

Liked seeing Bryce have some time in the pocket. Yes, he overthrew a few players - but was that an issue with Bryce or blown coverage or something else?

Liked seeing the refs call a Roughing the Passer on the Giants. Can't recall the last time Carolina was on the beneficial end of a Roughing penalty.

Based solely on the few plays I watched -- things looked significantly better than last week.  Are there still improvements to be made? YES. Did we make progress this past week? DEFINITELY

I actually like some things that DJ Johnson did. He made a superb one-on-one tackle on the Giants QB off a play action bootleg that I’ve seen many players miss. If he misses that tackle the Giants QB is still running.

Blackshear has been mentioned and I agree, I really like his shiftiness. He seems to have a lot of twitch and his vision and burst seems to be better than Hubbard’s.

I also thought Deion Jones played well, he had some nice sticks at the LOS and generated some pressure on the Giants QB.

And finally I was impressed with the Giants inability to line up onside for the duration of the first half. That was an amazing display of either not giving a fug or having no idea where the actual LOS is.

One player I was not impressed with was Eric Rowe, guy is not twitchy at all and was getting eaten alive on post routes. God help him if the receiver doesn’t run in a straight line causes he’s toast.

    • I'm right there with you, brother. I've been a Panther fan since the day the team was awarded to the Carolinas.  We've had some good years, a couple of great years, as well as some low periods and no consecutive winning seasons. But I never thought I'd see such a period as we have over the past several years.   It has gotten to the point of being rather apathetic in watching them. In fact, I told my wife before the Miami game I was watching just to see what new and creative way they lose another game. And early on, it looked like they would. But damned if Miami wasn't more creative than the Panthers.   I'm now older than my Dad when he died (he was 65) and, like you, I've wondered if I'll ever see them have another winning season. I'd sure like to think I will.
    • again, I am not his employer, I dont follow his stuff or read any of it including social media, but he has been employed long enough where someone thinks he is doing a good job, not disagreeing he isnt an moron but I am not calling for anyones job for being a moron when it really doesnt affect me

Clowney likely to play it looks based on practice as well. Cornelius, Diggs, Kneeland, and Smith were limited all week. Mingo likely not going to be able to play. Dante Fowler Jr missed practice with an illness Thur + Fri. I imagine he'll suit up as well.
