Dear lord some of you people seriously can't comprehend the coaches aren't actually coaching to win a preseason game can you? You are already writing the season off before they play a single meaningful snap of football.

If we end up sucking, I guess you can look back and say how right you were about us becuase of our awful preseason, but I can't be worried about meaningless scrimmage games myself.

Worrying about something just means you suffer through it twice.

The 2003 Carolina Panthers SB team went 4-0 in the preseason. The 2015 Carolina Panthers SB team went 3-1 in the preseason. Anomalies though!!

The 2008 Lions and 2017 Browns were 4-0 preseason warriors.

Guess their regular season record?

Yep. 0-16.

2009 Colts were 1-3 their preseason.

Their regular season record? 14-2, and went to the Superbowl.

What does this mean?

Preseason success does not indicate regular season success whatsoever.

If Young (or anyone else) gets hurt in the regular season, it won't have jack sh-t to do with us losing preseason games.

Well if he doesn't make it to regular season and it's Jordans fault, I'll be coming to you for answers. Furthermore, of Icky gives it up I will also want answers, put him at guard til he knows what he is doing! Don't play Bryce another down if you call this growing pains, let hom get another QB buried!

Yuppers, the winner of Preseason always goes to the SuperB owl. smh

You keep believing preseason don’t mean anything and the Panthers will be good and I’ll continue believe they will suck this year.

Not relevant IMO. Different team, different coaching staff, different emphasis.  Not comparing apples to apples.

Different expectations as well. I never expected the Panthers to be good this year. Ironically, most of y’all did. Apples to Oranges.

And I am not on the panic wagon.

I understand what you’re trying to say. And I agree to an extent.

I’m saying it’s hypocritical for y’all to state that while clapping it up for the team in training camp and eating up fluff pieces.

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
