Preseason DOESN'T matter per huddle insiders... John Harbaugh has a PSA for ya

That's what the point of preseason is, and what determines that is the goals that are set by the coaches.

Harbaugh, just like you are trying to do in this thread, are really using a straw man. No one here is saying that preseason doesn't matter, and I personally have never seen a reporter write that preseason doesn't matter. Everyone knows it matters, but winning and losses in preseason are largely not the measure of "success" during the regular season.

Everyone knows that preseason games matter to the guys who are actually trying to develop and prove that they deserve to be in the NFL.

No dog in this fight either way but there are literally dozens of posters claiming preseason doesnt matter.  The freaking official panther twitter said as much

They are referring to preseason wins and losses. Anyone trying to suggest otherwise is being pretentious.

looking good and executing during the games matter. for the record, panthers are not currently doing this either.

get this man a steak dinner... perfectly summarized... No one is upset with a W or L in preseason but anyone with eyes and a brain attached to those eyes who sees 11 men getting their asses kicked and poo effort will have serious concerns and to punt that off as "its just preseason" is reckless

So there has been no proficient execution? I think you're wrong. There has been inconsistency of execution, but some of these guys have proven that they can execute at a high level.

People are just pushing back on the idea that some here, including OP, seem to have that you can essentially declare the season over based on preseason.

The purpose of preseason most years is to give starters a few reps but focus on developing the bottom part of your roster and the practice squad. With all the turnover we were more in need of not just that but playing time to gel all the players and staff and give Bryce significant reps as well as see what we had in Corral. If we were about scoring points we would have played Dalton like the Jets did Wilson for a whole half or the Giants did with Taylor.

Executing and getting experience definitely needed. Looking good in August. Totally irrelevant if most of those guys won't be on your roster after next Tuesday.

    • he used to have nothing good to say about them. put him on the payroll...problem solved.
    • I am also intrigued by Mohammad. Could be another story. Seems like he has the talent but seems to have had some issues with coaching schemes/changes,  some attitude and work ethic issues? Hopefully his being home can get him focused. Here is what I read ( all second hand to me ) :    1- He has all the skills but was nonexistent under two different coaching staffs. He butted heads and was benched under Jimbo (for wearing sleeves under his uniform after the coaching staff told him not to 🙄). Then under the new staff, he rarely saw the field – he had just 55 yards last season. When he saw the field, he either made the most impressive play of the game or would get an unsportsmanlike penalty. Just a bizarre case because he has the talent.     2 -Aggie here to provide some insight. As the other poster mentioned, Moose had a weird time at A&M and it didn't help that Jimbo's offense was painful and wide receivers never seemed to excel. His third year was promising but he was also competing with Evan Stewart, Noah Thomas, and Chase Lane who I'm pretty sure were all 5*s. Also Ainais Smith and Devon achane ran majority of the offense. That said, going into his last year with Jimbo, a couple guys like Lane and Achane left, and most Ags thought this would be the year Moose really steps up. Unfortunately as the other poster mentions, he disappeared into misconduct and coaching change.
    • I'm more impressed with the UDFA that the guys they have drafted in the first the last 2 years. A whole lot of prove it is still needed before any improvement should be talked about seriously.
