Yes!

I don't give a poo about how much he gets paid. Hell I wish he can make the most money he can. I just care about him on the field. This defense has no pass rush without him. Get that through your head and stop pocket watching a grown man. You not paying him nothing out of your pocket anyway.

Got it.  Let’s make the same mistake we made with Charles Johnson.  You can’t overpay players out of sheer desperation.  Yes, we are better with him.  No, we shouldn’t pay him like Joey Bosa or TJ Watt.

Maybe he recognizes his worth and value to this defense?

He knows he's the only player capable of getting to the QB. Probably why we signed Houston so late in the offseason. Wouldn't surprise me if Tepper is playing hardball.

And I’m fine with that.  But don’t do a media parade all off-season about awesome of a man and teammate you are by not holding out…only to stop practicing the week before our first game.  That’s what irritates me the most.  If you want to stand your ground, handle it the way Bosa and Jones are handling it.

I love Burns.  I want Burns to sign for the next 10 years.  We are better with him.  I never once said I didn’t like him or that he didn’t make us better.  What I did say, is that he isn’t a top 8 player at his position.  And that’s a fact.  I can like a player and acknowledge he isn’t the best player in the world at his position at the same time.

consider who you are responding to

Hasn't Burns pretty much stated that he won't hold out?

Then why is he sitting out team practices a week before the opener. Wonder if his agent got in his ear. Money can influence many things, especially if negotiations aren't going well.

Considering Bosa has 5 more sacks despite missing an entire season, I can see where there may be a difference in value. Especially if Burns wants what Bosa gets.

Burns is not Bosa.

Burns doesn’t necessarily want what Bosa gets but it still makes sense for him to see what Bosa gets so he can get fair value comparatively.

    • I mean, if Moore really wants out, then it would behoove the Bears to make it happen sooner than later. X is a lot younger and cheaper, and may be a better fit for Johnson's musings than a disgruntled, unnecessary, overpaid vet. If they can dump his salary and maybe get a fourth or so in return, it may be worth it to them. As for development, I'm not concerned. You're talking about a seeming bust, a day three guy and a UDFA. They are developing relative to their ceilings. I doubt any of them will ever command the coverage, money, or the respect that Moore has acquired. He's a tier above them. Yes, even X.
    • IMO, if Ceedee plays against us, the game probably goes the other way. Same with Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins. Our team just isn't designed to beat teams with two high level receivers like that. But when you look at the league, how many teams really have two guys of that caliber?  There's nothing wrong with defensive adjustments, but sometimes I think a lot of fans want Evero to call a different play like a game on madden, and defensive football just isn't like that. That said, I thought we did a much better job this season against the Cowboys of flipping Jaycee and at least making them work for it, opposed to last season when they literally just lined CeeDee up on the other side of the field every single snap.  For us to just straight up switch to consistent man coverage, or a different zone, or whatever, we likely would consistently need different personnel on the field. Doing it a few times a game is a gamble and can work, but if we consistently run man coverage against the Cowboys, eventually a RB is going to beat a linebacker, or something of that nature with our personnel. Part of the reason Evero likes this scheme is that, while we have our defaults and presets, what we do is very multiple, and you can do a lot of different things pre and post snap. We are a challenging defense to read. But as you said, if guys are getting beat, it doesn't really matter what you call.
