These types of Referee blunders are 100% unacceptable

Btw, now that I think about it further, can anyone name some games where we have had multiple significant, game changing calls against us and still won? Im having trouble recalling any, but I can recall ones where we lost. Its almost as if there is some sort of correlation there. Like the refs are like sharks, when they smell blood they go in for the kill. They may not be the reason for those loses, but they try to make sure we dont recover. It seems like that happens a lot more often to us.

Normally I’m on the “us against the world of officiating” bandwagon but the officials didn’t give up 3 turnovers. That was us. We lost this game despite the horrid officiating.

At this point Im convinced a significant portion of the huddle cant read or have a great comprehension problem.

I read your whole post. The insinuation was that the topic probably didn’t need an entire post as the fact that we suck out loud is a grander issue. I was just being nice.

- Reviewing a catch that shouldve been incomplete and ruling it a completion.

- Reviewing a TD that shouldnt have been as the runner stepped out of bounds before the goal line.

- Keeping the ball at the 1 yard line after penalties on both sides on the punt return. This one should definitely be sent into the league. Never seen this before ever since I started watching football in the early 90s.

- Calling Dpi on us after the receiver was all over our own defender.

Yes I know these arent the main reason why we lost, but each one was significant. I expected us to not look like where we should be in game 1 with new everything, but this sh!t right here is what turns me off from football. Ive already stopped watching other games after the head hunting to Cam in the Super Bowl and game 1 the following season. If these types of significant calls continue through out the season, I may be done with football all together.

I’m not sure who that ref was but he should be removed from the NFL. He clearly was not working with the rest of the crew and they were getting frustrated at him for it and him not listening. You could tell just by the broadcast there was multiple times he told them to fug off.

I think collectively as a fanbase we are less mad about the piss poor calls because the Panthers were comfortably losing this game no matter what happened, but I agree these particular calls were atrocious especially the horse collar tackle. That 100% should have been a redo of the down.

I've gotten used to this team competing with the least competent set of ref's every week.  Until we start winning the best ref teams will go to the best matchups.

What I'm concerned about is the challenges that are reviewed in NY.  Would love to be a fly on the wall in that room as they get simultaneous red lights flashing for review challenges in a premier matchup vs. a low tier matchup and see how much time is actually invested in getting the calls right in those different scenario's.

So when is a good time to talk about it? When we win despite 3-4 game changing calls? That rarely happens as I mentioned before. The topic is about atrocious calls, win or lose. You are offering a different discussion than is being offered here.

It makes no sense to me how two of these calls were reviewed and still were upheld. Especially that non-touchdown when it was clear he stepped out before reaching the goal line. The other that was called a catch despite being incomplete was just like the Cotchery catch in our SB that was called incomplete.

    • Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.
