HEAVENS TO BETSY, LOOK AT THESE WIDE-OPEN RECEIVERS

I counted three (3) "missed" throws, one that could've gone for a TD, one that would've fallen short of the sticks on 3rd down, and one that would've gone for a 1st down.

Young started the game 12-18 (67%) for 91 yards, TD, INT, but finished it 8-20 (45%) for 55 yards and an INT. Some other things I noticed:

- quick screen to Shenault worked great. Was never run again
- Bryce's biggest mistake on his first pick was not taking the 8-yard completion to Mingo
- Needs to look Mingo's way more, the 3rd-and-8 pickup was a great play by QB and WR

we got no speed to threaten vertically.  And if a D doesn’t respect the threat …..it makes coverage easier.  Because you end up taking half the guessing out of the equation for a DB.  They know everything is in front of them and play it that way.

Our deep threat was out today, but Mingo should've had a 99 yard TD with a better throw and TMJ should've had a deep catch with a better route ran.

Those route concepts are pretty awful. A lot easier to cover when all the receivers are roughly at the same depth of the field.

Thank You!

Was saying this during the game thread plenty of times. Frank needs to find something else that gets players in different spots on the field. The routes just never looked good on the field imo.

I have no Heisman Trophy and I have never worked for DoorDash in Tuscaloosa, but I would NOT throw deep to anyone on that fuging lineup today save for Jonathan Mingo. And even then it'd give me pause. Safeties were salivating at the deep ball with 7 in coverage.

We're gonna be angry at the OL next Monday when the sack total rises after NO blitzes more.

    • So what about their sign is not compliant or causing the issue according to the rules? Them always having it, or the amount of time they have had it, or their loyalty to the team is not relevant to this situation. To be clear, I know next to nothing about this situation, just trying to clarify.  I have no dog in this fight and am emotionless on this topic. If you are breaking a rule, you do not get special treatment just because you have been here breaking it a long time.
    • The team fell for that late season averageness he displayed last year and got burned. You want to do that again? I don’t.  But I sort of do agree that we are stuck with him as the starter.  I can’t decide whether replacing him gets us into the playoffs so suffering through one last season is the price for freedom in 2026.  Three ways to be free in 2026: He actually plays like a real NFL QB,  The team sends him packing. Be completely out on tne Panthers until changes are made.
    • Short version = these people have had those seats since the beginning and haven't missed a game. They have always had their sign. They had to change the sign - I think in 2015 when Cam ripped that Packers fan's banner down (love him for that, by the way) - to be compliant and haven't had any issues in the last 10 years. The Panthers even used a photo of them and their sign in their album from the Falcons game. In the 3rd quarter last weekend it was decided that the sign needed to come down. Seems weird and unnecessary, especially since it has been there for every game for a decade.   EDIT: they've had it since 2003. Still a long-ass time.... Also "cringe" is a funny word for someone over the age of 18 who lives and overshares on the Huddle. But, ok....
