Burns will be sacrificed for a WR to two.

At this point it doesn’t matter. It was a bad move to decline that trade but we can’t let that prevent any future moves.

Agreed. Sunk cost fallacy. Yesterday's price is not today's price. Fitt fumbled the ball with that (non)move, but if you're not prepared to pay Burns $28-30m per then you gotta move him.

The whole reason they’re moving on from Higgins is they can’t afford him and Chase after paying Burrow. How would they pay him what he wants with the Chase extension coming?  I want burns as a Panther but at this point expecting a tag and trade. Also would love to send him to Detroit for Jameson Williams and a pick.  Also Chicago has the cap. Could get our pick back but then looks like we got fleeced.

decline rams-burns trade and then trade away our best WR since Steve smith because "receivers are easier to replace than premier pass rushers"

to now, unable to resign Burns and having a bunch of slow bums at WR

DJ wasn't elite but he was very solid especially in the short and intermediate game along with his YAC. Which is perfect for QB play style like Bryce's and the "offense" we seen the past two games. not only that, he was on a reasonable contract

It's going to be a buyers market for him this time around because whoever gets him knows they'll have to pay him after half a season.

If we could get back into the 1st round and a handful of pocket lint, I'd do it. Burns could have a great career just getting swapped around to teams that feel they are a pass rusher away from a title.

As if anybody who would have traded for him last year didn't know he was up for a massive new deal then?

I think it would more have to do with tying so much money up in 3 offensive skill positions.  Burrow, Chase and Burns is a much smarter investment than those 2 and Higgins.

I'm afraid the Panthers front office has the same football acumen as some of the posters.

Rhule sure did, getting rid of Bridgewater after the one season, the only reason were even competitive that season and he and his offensive guru Brady were being crowed about.

To becoming a laughing stock onward.

If we get rid of Burns now after saying no to the Rams trade and sending Moore to Chicago just turn the GM position over to AI see what it can do.

I kinda had the same feeling roll across my mind but there’s got to be someone of near equal value and I’m not sure who that would be.

also Michael Pittman is currently not under contract with Indy next season

Yeah pittman, a splash. I wish this franchise would go all in on skill positions

    • agree to disagree you are entitled to that opinion even though I find the argument completely bizarre based on data. I could type out a long paragraph discussing those areas but what’s the point. I posted a screenshot that showed Bryce in a similar post snap situation with a free rusher in his face which resulted in a TD - that’s what happened on the play so I posted it.
    • I've already addressed this notion in a previous reply. You are basing your assertion outside reality if you think Bryce would have not only been more successful but defeated the Patriots in place of Herbert. Bryce got blown off the field by that Patriots team with the highest paid OL in the league. We've seen Bryce with an OL that gave up 65 sacks and it resulted in the #1 pick. And that is not a defense of Herbert or arguing he is a great QB in any way. He has physical talent but he has been similar to Darnold early in his career in terms of his very up and down perfomances. However that does not change the fact that they have significantly less invested in the OL than the Panthers.
    • I think Tepper has been setting the stage where pending there is no miracle he wipes it all clean.  Think you already have been told that with small things like Evero staying.  Bryce is the guy next year.  OC, DC, everything stays the same.  QB room largely the same.  Nothing would really matter there.  They basically get one more shot and it goes how the schedule paired with our 27th ranked O predictably most likely goes.  Everyone out the door together.  Bryce is a bridge tier QB.  I don’t see Dave surviving where he could be bridge QB here in reality.
